About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to help scale and evolve cloud platforms. You will design, build, and operate distributed backend services and data pipelines that power real-time visibility and monitoring for millions of users. This role includes full ownership across architecture, implementation, deployment, reliability, and performance, while working closely with Product, Security, DevOps, and other engineering teams. Your work will directly shape the scalability, resilience, and future capabilities of the SaaS ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and operate highly scalable backend services using Node.js and Java, following modern architecture and clean code principles.
• Build, optimize, and maintain real-time data streaming pipelines using Kafka and related distributed processing frameworks to support large-scale telemetry, monitoring, and analytics workloads.
• Take features end-to-end — from technical design and API definition to deployment, monitoring, and performance optimization in production.
• Ensure services meet strict requirements around reliability, fault-tolerance, security, and multi-tenant scalability.
• Collaborate closely with Product, DevOps, Security, and cross-functional engineering teams to deliver new platform capabilities and evolve core SaaS infrastructure.
• Contribute to observability standards through metrics, tracing, structured logging, and automated alerting.
• Participate in architectural discussions, drive technical decisions, and mentor engineers on backend and distributed systems best practices.

Required Competence and Skills:

• 5+ years of professional backend engineering experience, building and maintaining production-grade systems.
• 3+ years of strong hands-on experience with Node.js (NestJS, Express or similar) — ability to design, implement, and scale backend services.
• Proven experience working with Kafka and real-time streaming frameworks in distributed environments.
• Solid understanding of microservices architecture and experience deploying services on Azure, or AWS, or GCP.
• Practical experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL, plus caching or analytical storage solutions like Redis or ClickHouse.
• Strong background in observability, monitoring, logging, and performance optimization of services running in production.
• Strong command of software design principles, object-oriented programming, clean code, and maintainable architecture.

Nice to have:

• Experience with Java (Spring Boot, Vert.x) for backend or data-intensive services.
• Data engineering experience with frameworks such as Flink, Spark, or Apache Beam.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, etc.).
