The candidate will have a PhD or MSc, deep VM/Compiler expertise, proven JS engine experience, and strong academic ties with fluent English.

Huawei's Hilbert Research Center is responsible for advanced technology research, architectural development, design and strategic engineering of our products.

With the rapid development of the mobile ecosystem, JavaScript has become crucial parts of the mobile applications. Enhancing applications’ performance through continuous innovation in language virtual machine technology is essential for a better user experience. The research center plans to strengthen capabilities of language virtual machine and focus on system architecture and software innovation. Senior architect is needed to plan and direct the overall strategy, to increase influence within academia and industry, and to connect with the local and global research community.

Senior Architect of JS Execution Engine (m/f/d)

Your mission

• Be responsible for the overall technical competitiveness of the JS execution engine: lead a team to implement key innovation of technologies and algorithms, improve JS execution engine performance

• Explore the next-generation JS execution engine architecture and complete the construction of the technology stack for future scenarios

• Gain insight into the development trend of the JS execution engine, promote related technical development and cooperation, attract and hire talents to join Huawei

• Build a good ecosystem in academia, the open-source community and related industry organizations

Your areas of expertise

• Master or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or other related disciplines

• Deep knowledge and understanding of technology principles and trends of language virtual machines and compilers

• Successful experience in mainstream programming languages and VM/compiler in the industry, especially in the design, implementation, and optimization of major JS engines (such as v8, JavaScriptCore, and SpiderMonkey).

• Strong links with academia, industry and open-source community is preferred.

• Experienced with leading a research lab or a development team is preferred

• Fluent in written and spoken English
