Artificial Intelligence and machine learning are at the cutting edge when it comes to shaping next‑gen mobility in areas like automated driving. But it takes real intellectual leadership and expertise to identify and then harness the AI trends and technologies that will transform the way people travel for good.

In this role, you will build, prototype, and deliver use cases that leverage edge device models. By understanding real user problems, model capabilities are translated into meaningful product experiences that make the voice assistant and in‑car intelligence truly useful. Together with the model engineering product team, you will be a key contributor to our product: the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant.

What awaits you?

• You will integrate models that run on edge devices within the infotainment domain.
• You will prototype & build new GenAI experiences, turning ideas into reality as refined features that will be launched to our customers.
• You will collaborate with the model engineering team to respect latency, memory, and performance budgets in edge devices and in the cloud.
• You will work closely with staff engineers to shape our model landscape and tooling infrastructure to deliver customer value.
• You will build evaluation tools for real‑world interaction quality, robustness, and failure modes.
• You will partner with our UX teams to refine design, fallback flows, and safe error handling.

What should you bring along?

• University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• At least five years of proven experience in application engineering with a track record of delivering for a large customer base.
• Strong engineering experience integrating GenAI & ML models to serve delightful use cases.
• Solid Python and Java/Kotlin experience.
• You know how to debug ambiguous GenAI failures and improve behavior through iteration.
• You are hands‑on with a bias for action.
• You enjoy working on complex problems in an international in‑house team of experts.
• You are comfortable working with constrained, offline, edge‑device models and designing around their limitations.
