About Achievement First

Achievement First (AF) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization supporting 39 public charter schools across New York, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. For more than 25 years, AF has been recognized as one of the top tuition-free public charter school networks in the country. We are committed to creating schools of academic excellence within nurturing environments — schools that prepare students to be college-ready and to pursue and succeed in whatever paths they choose in life.

The majority of AF students are Black and Latinx children from low-income families, many of whom will be the first in their families to graduate from college. Across our network, we employ more than 2,200 staff members — 64% of whom identify as Black, Indigenous, or People of Color — who collectively educate nearly 15,000 students in Brooklyn and Queens, NY; New Haven, Bridgeport, and Hartford, CT; and Providence and Cranston, RI.

Our mission is to prepare every student to excel in college, career, and life; deepen their understanding of self and community; and lead lives of purpose. We believe in the limitless potential within our students and their power to shape a more just society. That belief drives our deep commitment to student achievement: we aim to set a high bar for learning and create warm, demanding classrooms where rigorous instruction is paired with the care, encouragement, and consistency every student deserves.

We are looking for a detail-oriented and mission-driven Senior Analyst, Enrollment & Compliance Data to join our Systems & Data team.

Your Impact

The Senior Analyst, Enrollment & Compliance Data ensures the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of enrollment data across the Achievement First network. As a member of the Systems & Data team, you will manage enrollment reporting cycles, safeguard the integrity of lottery and waitlist data, and ensure AF meets its state and authorizer reporting obligations. You will partner closely with School Operations, Enrollment, and Legal/Compliance colleagues to translate data into clear, actionable information and to make sure every enrollment decision AF reports on is accurate, defensible, and made in service of students and families.

Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Analysis & Reporting, you will be responsible for:

Enrollment Data Management
  • Own the integrity and accuracy of enrollment data across student information systems (SIS), ensuring records reflect current enrollment status, lottery outcomes, and waitlist positioning.
  • Partner with school-based enrollment and operations teams to audit, clean, and reconcile enrollment data on a regular cadence.
  • Build and maintain dashboards and reports (e.g., in Tableau) that give school and regional leaders real-time visibility into enrollment trends, seats available, and waitlist movement.
Compliance & Reporting
  • Manage the timely and accurate submission of enrollment and demographic data to state departments of education and authorizers across CT, NY, and RI.
  • Monitor changes in state and federal reporting requirements (e.g., FERPA, state lottery/enrollment law) and translate them into internal data practices and deadlines.
  • Lead or support internal and external compliance audits related to enrollment, lottery, and waitlist practices, preparing clean, well-documented data files and narratives.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of data definitions, business rules, and reporting processes to ensure consistency and audit-readiness.
Cross-Functional Partnership & Analysis
  • Serve as a trusted data partner to Enrollment, Legal/Compliance, School Operations, and Systems & Data colleagues, translating data questions into clear, actionable analysis.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries against enrollment and student data systems to answer ad hoc questions and build recurring reporting.
  • Identify data quality issues proactively, propose process improvements, and manage projects to resolution with minimal oversight.
  • Train and support school-based staff on enrollment data entry standards and compliance expectations.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in data analysis, compliance or enrollment management.
  • Experience in the K-12 education sector or a mission-driven organization is a strong plus.
Technical Skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in SQL and comfort working directly in relational databases required.
  • Proficiency in Tableau or a comparable data visualization platform required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required.
  • Familiarity with student information systems and/or education compliance frameworks (e.g., FERPA, state enrollment/lottery law) a significant plus.
  • Python or R experience is a strong plus.
  • DBT experience is a strong plus
Leadership & Communication Skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and comfort managing multiple deadline-driven compliance cycles simultaneously.
  • Strong project planning skills, with the ability to juggle multiple workstreams and competing stakeholder demands.
  • Exceptional ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences — in writing, in presentations, and in conversation.
  • Collaborative, relationship-oriented approach; skilled at building trust and partnership across teams and levels of the organization.
  • Analytical mindset grounded in a genuine passion for using data to improve outcomes for students.
Travel Expectations

This is a hybrid role. The expectation is that the person in the role will be able to come into one of the Network Support offices (NY, CT, or RI) 3 days per week. There may be occasional travel to school sites within your region to support enrollment audits and compliance work.

Compensation

In order to uphold our commitment to equity, Achievement First does not negotiate pay.
