JAC Recruitment places a Senior Accountant to Accounting Manager level in Düsseldorf for an established European group. You will own month-end close under HGB, prepare financial statements, and coordinate annual accounts with auditors while supporting group reporting and consolidation.

The role requires German accounting expertise, fluent German and strong English, and a proactive, detail-oriented approach. Hybrid work is offered with optional home office days after probation.

Qualifications

• German language skills, including ability to discuss accounting matters and audit reports; strong working English.
• Solid hands-on accounting experience in Germany, including monthly closing and involvement in annual closing.
• Experience coordinating with external auditors and preparing or reviewing audit documentation.
• Ability to manage accounting deliverables independently and follow issues through to completion.
• Proactive, accuracy-focused, with good stakeholder communication.

Responsabilités

• Coordinate month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing under German GAAP (HGB).
• Prepare and review general ledger entries, accruals, provisions, balance sheet reconciliations and financial statements.
• Coordinate statutory annual accounts and external audits, including German-language audit documentation.
• Review financial information from European entities and support group reporting and consolidation processes.
• Oversee accounting work of colleagues responsible for accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Act as a finance contact for internal stakeholders and external auditors/advisers.
• Improve closing procedures, internal controls, documentation and accounting workflows.
• Support integration and reporting standardisation for new branches, subsidiaries and business activities.
• Collaborate with colleagues responsible for corporate tax and VAT and provide accounting input.
• Take ownership of assigned matters through resolution and report key issues to finance leadership.

The position will be considered at Senior Accountant through Accounting Manager level, depending on the candidate's relevant experience, technical expertise and ability to take ownership of accounting operations.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and execute month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing under German GAAP (HGB).
• Prepare and review general ledger entries, accruals, provisions, balance sheet reconciliations and financial statements.
• Coordinate statutory annual accounts and external audits, including German-language audit documentation.
• Review financial information from European entities and support group reporting and consolidation processes.
• Oversee the quality and completeness of accounting work performed by colleagues responsible for accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Act as a knowledgeable finance contact for internal stakeholders, including commercial teams, and external auditors and advisers.
• Improve closing procedures, internal controls, documentation and accounting workflows.
• Support accounting integration and reporting standardisation for new branches, subsidiaries and business activities.
• Collaborate with colleagues responsible for corporate tax and VAT and provide accounting input where required.

Requirements

• Solid hands-on accounting experience in Germany, including responsibility for monthly closing and meaningful involvement in annual closing.
• Practical knowledge of HGB, general ledger accounting, accruals and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Experience coordinating with external auditors and preparing or reviewing audit documentation.
• Ability to manage accounting deliverables independently and follow issues through to completion.
• Professional German language skills, including the ability to discuss accounting matters and work with audit reports; strong working English.
• Sound stakeholder communication, accuracy and a proactive, improvement-oriented approach.

• Salary range: EUR 70,000–100,000,

• 37.5-hour working week with flexible hours (core time 09:00–15:00).
• Hybrid working: up to two home-office days per week after probation.
