Zusammenfassung

Qualifikationen

The job

In the Environmental Sensor and Information Systems working group of the Department of Monitoring and Exploration Technologies, methods and procedures for monitoring terrestrial systems are developed and implemented in application projects with regard to digital transformation. For the development of AI-based traffic control in urban systems, the AIAMO project aims to implement highly scaled sensor networks for recording air quality and to develop and provide a digital twin for environmental data from the data and data fusion with secondary data.

For this purpose, we are looking for the next possible date in the Monitoring and Exploration Technologies (MET) unit in the AIAMO research project at the UFZ for a Scientist (f / m / x) for Data Engineering and environmental monitoring / -modelling.

Your tasks
  • Independent design, development and implementation of IT interfaces and data pipelines in the UFZ infrastructure, including data analysis and visualisation of environmental data
  • Independent design and implementation of analyses for a sub-project in the AIAMO project using statistical and scientific data evaluation (of urban air quality data), possibly with AI methods, in close cooperation with stakeholders from science and industry
  • Technical setup of sensor components and instrumentation in the field (including commissioning, maintenance and monitoring of environmental sensors)
  • Where applicable, support in setting up and operating numerical dispersion models on in-house infrastructure or external cloud providers (e.g. MS Azure)

Your profile
  • Completed degree (master's) from a university of applied sciences or university in the field of IT, engineering, electrical engineering, environmental technology, meteorology, environmental sciences, physics, mathematics or a comparable degree programme
  • High level of motivation and initiative in carrying out tasks
  • Communication and teamwork skills and enjoyment of working in an interdisciplinary team
  • Programming skills, preferably in Python, and an interest in developing AI applications.
  • Experience or interest in assembling electromechanical components is an advantage.
  • Interest in, and ideally prior knowledge of, numerical modelling of environmental processes.
  • Very good written and spoken German and English skills.
  • You are willing to take on at least three of the above tasks.
