Our Global IT & Digital business unit consists of several Centres of Excellence (CoE) that deal comprehensively with SAP, infrastructure, cyber security, data analytics and operational technology. The SAP CoE continuously drives implementations, feasibility studies and systematic improvements and sets the direction for the transition from R3 to S/4 HANA.
As an SAP Architect (m/f/d), you can expect more than just a classic 9-to-5 job. With interfaces to APAC and the Americas, things can get busy at the beginning and end of the day.

Before we go into detail: the basics.
37.5 hours per week | flexible working hours | 1 day/week in the office (Cologne) | permanent position | Cologne or Eschborn (Frankfurt) | 30 days' holiday | salary range: €88,000 - €111,000 (according to the chemical industry pay scale)
The job that makes you happy:
- You will provide significant support to the global Orion organisation by defining commercial and technical requirements for all SAP projects, determining project scopes, budgets and schedules, and providing technical guidance in the areas of development, integration and basis.
- Your responsibilities will include defining, maintaining and documenting the SAP end-to-end architecture, including the system landscape, integration points, data flows and security requirements, as well as developing roadmaps and implementation plans for SAP projects, taking into account business priorities and technical feasibility
- You will develop, maintain and provide SAP security standards in collaboration with the Cyber Security CoE, including an authentication and single sign-on strategy for SAP, designing high availability, backup and recovery, monitoring and disaster recovery processes for SAP in cloud environments (GCP, AWS or Azure)
- You are also responsible for managing external service providers in your area. You work with vendors and partners to support the global SAP environment and select and implement appropriate SAP products and services. You stay up to date on the latest SAP technologies and trends and recommend innovative solutions for the various business areas and requirements
- You will supervise test phases and pilot projects in collaboration with other colleagues from the SAP CoE, thereby establishing a trusting working relationship with cross-functional teams and interfaces and acting as a subject matter expert for SAP topics in the areas of architecture, integration, Basis and development.
The profile that makes us happy:
- You will lay the foundation for successful work in this position with a degree in information technology (IT) and several years of practical professional experience in SAP architecture, SAP PI/PO including HANA DB support, SAP S/4, SAP CPI, SAP BTP, SAP Fiori, SAP DRC and the SAP Integration Suite
- Additional technical expertise in operating SAP in cloud environments (GCP, Azure or AWS) is also required, as is experience with SAP Concur, SAP SuccessFactors and Active Directory
- With your know-how and self-confidence, you are able to work successfully in the areas of integration, development and SAP Basis
- Our SAP Centres of Excellence (CoE) work quickly, agilely and flexibly in the style of a start-up. In addition to the technical component, your mindset is very important to us. We need someone with a willingness to learn, a high level of commitment, an eye for work and someone who is always hungry for the next milestone, rather than someone who rests on their laurels
- You speak very good English for interacting with internal and external interfaces of the Orion Engineered Carbons Group. We welcome occasional willingness to travel.
