Job summary

ReactiveDynamics in Ingolstadt is seeking a versatile engineer to define and implement the safety concept for embedded systems, Linux compute nodes, and remote control software used in autonomous vehicles.

Open level with experience from hands-on coding to strong process leadership; Rust experience is a plus. You will work across hardware and software, drive safety cases, field testing, and collaboration with customers and assessors to ensure verifiable, safe operation.

Qualifications

• Must have delivered safety in shipped product according to EU Machinery Regulation, ISO 13849 or ISO 26262.
• Experience balancing safety measures with system complexity; hands-on coding or strong process background; Rust experience is a plus.
• Ability to defend safety decisions with customers and assessors.

Level is open. We work with everything from a few years of experience up to principal, as long as you've done this before.

What you'll do

• - Own the safety concept across several microcontrollers, the Linux compute node and the remote control software on laptops and tablets
• - Take it from concept to vehicle: safe states, watchdogs, degradation, E-stop paths
• - Decide which standards apply and how far we take them, and defend that with customers and assessors
• - Keep requirements, tests and evidence connected and honest

Good fit if you

• - Have done functional safety in a product that shipped: EU Machinery Regulation / Maschinenrichtlinie, ISO 13849, ISO 26262, IEC 61508, MIL-STD-882 or the defense equivalents you've worked with
• - Come from either side, hands on the code or strong on process. Both work here, and doing both is a plus. Experience with Rust helps too.
• - Know which measures make the vehicle safer and which only make the file thicker
