Zusammenfassung

VIAVI Solutions invites graduates to join its 2-year rotation program across its R&D Excellence Centers in Germany. You will work on FPGA design and related AI-assisted development while rotating across expert teams to broaden your skills and contribute to high-impact projects.

We seek hands-on FPGA experience, HDL proficiency (VHDL/Verilog), and fluent English with German at least B2. The program starts mid-2027 and offers competitive compensation and full benefits.

Qualifikationen

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer/Optical Engineering or related field.
  • German B2 and fluent English.
  • Hands-on FPGA design experience with HDL (VHDL/Verilog).

Aufgaben

  • Design, develop, and document FPGA applications for DSP, data processing, and specialized communication protocols.
  • Create and execute test benches to validate timing and functionality.
  • Collaborate with hardware, software, and system engineers.
  • Participate in design and code reviews and documentation processes.
  • Optimize FPGA designs for performance, power, and resources.
  • Debug complex FPGA implementations with standard tools.
  • Support product lifecycle from concept to production including verification.
  • Leverage AI/LLM tools to accelerate design exploration, code generation, debugging, and documentation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and document FPGA applications for digital signal processing, data processing, and specialized communication protocols.
  • Create and execute comprehensive test benches to validate FPGA design performance, functionality, and timing requirements.
  • Collaborate effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary design team including hardware, software, and system engineers.
  • Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and technical documentation processes to ensure quality deliverables.
  • Optimize FPGA designs for performance, power consumption, and resource utilization.
  • Debug and troubleshoot complex FPGA implementations using industry-standard tools and methodologies.
  • Support product development lifecycle from concept through production, including design verification and validation activities.
  • Leverage modern AI/LLM tools to accelerate design exploration, code generation, debugging, and documentation, increasing overall development effectiveness.
Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Optical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Minimum B2 in German and fluency in English.
  • Hands-on experience in FPGA design and development.
  • Proficiency in HDL languages (VHDL and/or Verilog).
  • Experience with FPGA development tools.
  • Strong understanding of digital signal processing concepts and implementation.
  • Knowledge of timing analysis, clock domain crossing, and FPGA architecture optimization.
  • Experience with simulation and verification tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with high-speed serial interfaces (PCIe, Ethernet, USB, etc.).
  • Knowledge of embedded processors and system-on-chip (SoC) architectures.
  • Familiarity with telecommunications and networking protocols.
  • Experience with version control systems and collaborative development processes.
