Zusammenfassung

The Faculty of Physics at Universität Bielefeld invites applications for a doctoral position within CRC-TR 211 "Strong-Interaction Matter under Extreme Conditions" in subproject B02 on "Collective Dynamics in Nuclear Collisions". The fixed-term, part-time 65% position starts as soon as possible, with salary according to TV-L level 13.

Qualifikationen

  • Master's degree in physics or equivalent.
  • Competent knowledge in heavy-ion physics and relativistic hydrodynamics.
  • Experience with numerical methods and programming.

Aufgaben

  • Pursue research on dynamics of strong-interaction matter in heavy-ion collisions using numerical simulations of relativistic fluid dynamics or kinetic transport models (≈50%).
  • Evaluate and interpret data, including analytical calculations (≈15%).
  • Contribute to writing publications and presenting results at conferences (≈5%).
  • Participate in CRC activities and joint research discussions (≈5%).
  • Teach tutorials/courses and supervise bachelor/master students (2.6 LVS / up to 22%).
  • Organize academic life in the physics department (up to 3%).

The theory division of the physics department at Bielefeld University has an opening for a doctoral position within the Collaborative Research Center CRC-TR 211 "Strong-Interaction Matter under Extreme Conditions" of university groups in Bielefeld, Darmstadt and Frankfurt for the collaboration in the subproject B02 on "Collective Dynamics in Nuclear Collisions".

Your tasks
  • pursue research on the description of the dynamics of strong-interaction matter in heavy-ion collisions with the help of numerical simulations of relativistic fluid dynamics or kinetic transport models(ca. 50 %)
  • evaluation and interpretation of data, including analytical calculations(ca. 15 %)
  • involvement in writing publications and presentation of scientific results at conferences (ca. 5 %)
  • participation in the joint research work and discussions of the whole CRC, including attendance and preparation of common activities, e.g. the annual "Retreat" or the "Topical Workshops" (ca. 5 %)
  • teaching of tutorials/courses and supervision of bachelor and master students (2.6 LVS / up to 22 %)
  • participate in the organization of the academic life in the physics department (up to 3 %)
Your profile
  • scientific university degree (master or equivalent) in physics
  • competent knowledge in heavy-ion physics and relativistic hydrodynamics
  • interest in the broad research topics of the Collaborative Research Center (see the CRC web page https://crc-tr211.org )
  • experience with the application of numerical methods and programming (with e. g. C/C++, Fortran or Python)
  • good knowledge of English in written and spoken form
  • independent, self-reliant and dedicated style of work
  • ability to cooperate and to work in a team
  • good presentation and moderation skills
