The University of Hamburg, home to the Hub of Computing and Data Science (HCDS), invites applications for a Research Associate in the ModuS-Connect project. You will build a cross‑sectoral understanding of AI adoption in SMEs, synthesize results, and present findings in virtual showcases.

Responsibilities include academic services, collaboration with project partners, and supporting evidence-based policy measures.

Qualifikationen

• University degree in a relevant field.
• Strong background in NLP and AI for data processing and analysis.
• Experience with relational and graph databases (neo4j, MySQL, MongoDB).
• Experience in designing and evaluating complex software systems; frontend development for data-centric tools.
• Ability to build dashboards with network/graph visualizations for research communication.
• Fluent written and spoken English and German.
• Strong teamwork, initiative, and organizational skills.

The Hub of Computing and Data Science (HCDS) is a competence unit for research and forms the core element for the central support of digitalization and digital transformation in research at the University of Hamburg.

Your responsibilities

Duties include academic services in the project named above. Research associates may also pursue further academic qualifications outside of their work responsibilities.

In the project “ModuS-Connect - Sektorübergreifende Synthese, Monitoring und Transferbegleitung für eine souveräne KI-Anwendung im Mittelstand” you will work on building a cross-sectoral systemic understanding of the development, application, and diffusion of AI applications in skilled crafts, commerce, and industry. The core is the synthesis of results from the funded collaborative projects and their presentation in virtual showcases, based on scientific analyses of trends, technological gaps, innovation ecosystems, and skills needs. In close cooperation with project partners and multipliers such as chambers, associations, and AI service centers, you will feed the results into existing SME support structures at an early stage. Based on the latest research results in NLP, applied AI and information systems, you will ensure systematic utilization of the potentials in real-world settings and support the evidence-based further development of innovation policy measures.

Your profile
