We have an exciting opportunity as Regulatory Compliance Associate Counsel (all genders welcome)

at the Kia Connect GmbH in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.

Job mission:

You are the program owner for Kia Connect’s digital and data-related regulatory compliance and instrumental in coordinating and driving execution of privacy-related actions across the business. You will identify compliance gaps, translate regulatory obligations into practical controls and processes, and ensure implementation and evidence through clear governance and tracking.

You will also support Kia Connect’s various business units in their daily work, providing legal guidance and creating and negotiating contracts in the connected car environment.

Your Responsibilities:

  1. Regulatory Horizon Scanning & Gap Identification: Maintain a Digital & Data Regulatory Radar covering relevant EU regulations and obligations (e.g., DSA, privacy/data governance topics, platform/consumer-facing digital compliance, ESG/CSR-related compliance requirements where relevant for supplier/customer expectations).
  2. Compliance Program Design & Process Implementation: Design and implement scalable compliance processes, Define required controls, templates and playbooks (checklists, SOPs, approval matrices), ensuring they are usable in a scaling start-up environment; create and deliver training/awareness sessions and practical guidance tailored to business teams (e.g., Sales enablement, Product checklists).
  3. Privacy & Data Governance Coordination (together with external DPO): Act as internal coordinator for privacy governance activities led or advised by the external DPO. Ensure privacy requirements are operationalized in product and commercial processes (without duplicating DPO independence).
  4. Cross-Functional Stakeholder Management & Enablement: Support Commercial/BD and Procurement with compliant contracting standards (data protection, security, regulatory commitments).

Your talents:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law

Experience:

  • Legal professional background (e.g., EU/German legal qualification or equivalent) with minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience in Legal/Compliance/Regulatory within a company, scale-up, or law firm advising digital businesses.
  • Solid understanding of regulatory compliance principles: turning obligations into controls, processes, governance and evidence.
  • Practical exposure to data/privacy‑adjacent operations (e.g., coordinating with DPOs, handling data protection questions, DSAR processes, vendor/contract controls).
  • Experience drafting, negotiating and operationalizing contracts, policies, guidelines and internal procedures.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Program ownership mindset: proactive gap finding, structured remediation, outcome‑driven.
  • Business partnering: pragmatic, solutions‑oriented, able to enable growth while managing risk.
  • Communication: can translate legal obligations into actionable requirements for non‑legal teams.
  • Analytical rigor: able to map complex data/product ecosystems into clear accountability.
  • Execution under ambiguity: thrives in a scaling environment and can build “just enough process” quickly.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Connected Car, mobility, charging ecosystems, or digital marketplace/distribution models.
  • Working experience in an international environment
  • Prior experience building compliance registers, dashboards, or GRC‑style tracking systems.
