Jobbeschreibung

Your duties as the Senior Registered Building Inspector include:

  • Manage a portfolio of construction development sites, including non-domestic low risk schemes (including new applications).
  • Provide accurate information, advice, and professional support to businesses and/or individuals, in accordance with the inspection framework.
  • Management of and support other members of the team including, where agreed, the delegation of plan checking, site inspections and other duties. You will be expected to take lead role in mentoring training and career development of the Trainee Building Inspector.
  • Deputising for the Head of Service in their absence.
  • Support the vision, values, and strategic priorities of the organisation so that team members are engaged and motivated to deliver the organisation's strategic plan.
  • Positively contribute to a strong, efficient, and effective performance culture with a focus on service excellence.
  • NB: The above list of duties is neither exclusive nor exhaustive. The post holder will be expected to undertake other duties commensurate with the responsibility level of this post, as directed by the section head or his/her representative., Stockport Council holds a Visa sponsorship licence but this can only be used for certain roles and this campaign does not currently qualify.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Building Control Inspector registered at Class 3 (or committed to upgrading to Class 3), holding significant Building Control experience with working knowledge of building regulations and legislation and excellent communication and negotiation skills. The role will require you to manage portfolios of domestic and non-domestic construction projects, providing expert advice, supervision across projects, including BSR MDT (high rise) projects. You will have experience at a senior level, although other levels of experience will be considered as the organisation can provide ongoing training and support as you look to progress your career. This is an excellent time to join the service as they undertake a diverse portfolio of major construction / build projects including large-scale housing developments, and town centre redevelopment.

  • Hold Registered Building Inspector status at Class 3 (or committed to upgrading to Class 3).
  • Possess a Professional Building Control Qualification (e.g., RICS, CABE).
  • Broad Building Control experience with working knowledge of building regulations and legislation.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong organisation and prioritising skills.
  • Strong focus for service excellence. You will already have considerable experience in Building Control, either in the public or private sector, and understand the main duties required of a Registered Building Inspector.
  • You will possess a comprehensive understanding of the key legislation related to Building Control, including the Building Act, the Building Safety Act, the Building Regulations, etc.
  • A willingness to work as part of a professional, forward-thinking team, who work together to carry out the objectives of the Building Control service.
  • You will need to drive to different locations to carry out your duties, you should hold a full UK driving licence.
  • Proficient IT skills to enable the processing of plans and email communication with our stakeholders.
