The Real-World Data & Evidence Science (RWD&ES) team serves as an end-to-end strategy and execution partner to solve business problems using real-world data. The team partners with medical, market access, health economics & value assessment (HEVA), and cross-functional partners to lead end-to-end RWE strategies by identifying and sourcing fit-for-purpose data, developing robust RWE strategies and delivering timely RWE studies with strong impact for patients, physicians, payers and regulators. We translate data into insights to inform decision-making and improve health outcomes.

The Real-World Evidence (RWE) Data Scientist is responsible for the management and analysis of RWE projects for the General Medicines portfolio. You will work closely with the RWE Data Science Analytics Lead to develop advanced analytics solutions and deliver high-quality, timely RWD analyses aligned with the global RWD&ES roadmap. This role collaborates with the Digital organization, Sanofi Global Hub (SBO) and the RW Data Science Analytics Lead to apply methods according to defined processes. This is a key role in developing RWE capabilities and delivering innovative analytics for business growth.

Main Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise for the design and delivery of studies using real-world data; ensure scientifically rigorous methods for addressing medical, economic and outcomes research questions
• Translate business requirements into data analysis specifications
• Verify data source integrity and validity to ensure data governance and ethical compliance
• Apply data science techniques (machine learning, deep learning, NLP, predictive modeling, optimization) to analytics projects to derive actionable insights
• Collaborate with internal and external experts to secure high scientific rigor in analyses
• Explain analysis outputs clearly to support interpretation of results and business decisions
• Promote best practices and adhere to standards for data science processes, including documentation and code development
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge in RWE and advanced analytics; advise on methods such as ML, NLP, etc.
• Explore emerging technologies (e.g., generative AI) to enhance processes and solutions
• Maintain timely communication with team members, partners and stakeholders to provide project visibility and manage risks
• Support GenMed medical gaps within Global Integrated Evidence Generation Plans (IEGP)

About You

You are a self-starter with energy and entrepreneurial problem-solving approach, growth mindset, and a passion for unleashing the power of real-world data with data science to improve health.

Education

• Master’s degree in statistics, applied mathematics, computer science, or related field; PhD preferred

Experience

• Expert knowledge in RWE, pharmaco-epidemiology, health outcomes research, statistical methods
• Experience in R, Python or SQL
• Experience with routinely collected data (claims, EHRs, registries) in pharmaceutical settings
• Experience in advanced analytics methods, including statistical modeling and causal inference; knowledge of GAMs, ML, DL
• Experience in multiple therapeutic areas; transplant, type 1/2 diabetes or cardiovascular preferred
• Experience working in complex global matrix teams and with service providers

Soft Skills

• Strong sense of urgency, ownership and proactive attitude
• Ability to communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences

Technical Skills

• Advanced programming and statistical computing skills; Python preferred (R & Scala optional); experience with Snowflake and SQL/NoSQL
• Expertise in supervised/unsupervised learning, deep learning, time series, Bayesian statistics, optimization
• RWE study designs and methodologies, including innovative techniques
• Ability to translate complex technical language for collaborators and stakeholders
• Storytelling with data and visualization skills
• Experience managing multiple analytic projects; external provider management preferred

Languages

• Fluency in spoken and written business English mandatory
