Job summary

Rivada Space Networks is seeking a high-level RAN System Architect to lead the SDN and resource management for our orbital network. You will define SDN requirements, assess suppliers, and ensure interfaces with OSS/BSS meet system goals while optimizing constellation resources.

In this role you will collaborate with a global team in a hybrid work setup from Munich, contribute to cloud-aware software leadership, and drive performance to achieve aggressive SLAs across our satellite network.

Qualifications

• University degree in Engineering Telecom or software, business engineering or similar.
• Minimum 10 years in technical management of suppliers and engineering teams.
• Minimum 5 years of RF resource management for satellites or 5G.
• Minimum 5 years of software development management and cloud design.

Responsibilities

• Define SDN requirements and interfaces to meet system requirements.
• Ensure supplier selection capable of delivering SDN within timeline and quality.
• Understand payload concepts and interfaces to define SDN functions for best resource usage.
• Ensure SDN solution can be customized for RSN needs and define required interfaces with supplier.
• Manage development of the SDN resource management feature.
• Define OSS interface with OSS/BSS Technical manager for standard interfaces across vendors.

Your mission

As RAN System Architect you are responsible for the implementation of one of the key components of the Rivada Space Networks system, The SDN comprises the resource manager in charge of optimizing the payload and UT RF and control the network of our constellation. The Network Control Center configures through its SDN solution the RF and network elements to deliver customer services in line with agreed SLA while optimizing all the system resources.

The RAN System Architect is in the Ground Segment team in charge of the management and procurement of the SDN solution with the selected SDN supplier.

This includes:

• Definition of the SDN requirements and interfaces to comply with the system requirement.
• Ensure the selection of a supplier able to develop a SDN within the Ground Segment timeline and with the required quality.
• Understand communication Payload concept and interface to define SDN functions able to provide the best resource usage of the constellation. Define and implement the Network operation concept.
• Ensure that SDN solution can be customized and optimized to RSN needs and define required interfaces with the supplier to develop for RSN unique Resource Management features.
• Manage the development of the SDN resource management feature.
• Define OSS interface with the OSS/BSS Technical manager to ensure standard interface allowing multiple vendor solutions.

What You Bring On The Table

• University degree in Engineering Telecom or software, business engineering or similar
• Min 10 years of experience in Technical Management of suppliers and engineering team.
• Min 5 years of experience in RF resource management for satellites or 5G
• Min 5 years of experience with software development management and cloud solution design
• Good knowledge of Network routing, SDN, MPLS, OSPF.
• In depth understanding of DVB-S2X, Beam Hopping, DRA antenna link budget, RF regulatory for NGSO and beam management
• Analytical mind combined with good communication skills
• Good team player and self-starter mentality
• Fluency in written and spoken English

Rivada Space Networks is deploying the Outernet: the first unified global communications network. Rivada's global low-latency point-to-point network of 600 low earth orbit (LEO) satellites is a unique next-generation constellation combining inter-satellite laser links with advanced onboard processing and routing to create a ubiquitous optical mesh network in space.
