ABB in Ratingen, Germany, is seeking an R&D Engineer to develop medium voltage vacuum interrupters. You will lead development, run simulations, and collaborate across ABB units and external partners.

The role emphasizes new processing technologies, development tests, and consulting for MV networks. Fluent English and willingness to learn German are expected.

Qualifikationen

• Higher degree in engineering, preferably with a background in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science.
• First experience in an R&D environment preferable.
• Knowledge of the electrical distribution network and its components and an interest to expand it.
• Basic knowledge in the area of current interruption phenomena in medium voltage product range preferable.
• Fluent in English and willingness to learn German.

• Lead the development of new products and solutions in the field of medium voltage vacuum interrupters.
• Conduct numerical and physical simulations for vacuum interrupters in MV breakers and switchgear.
• Collaborate with ABB units and external partners on R&D projects.
• Develop new processing technologies with responsible manufacturing units.
• Prepare development and type tests with certified test labs.
• Consult internal and external customers on vacuum interrupters for MV networks.
