ABB AG in Mannheim is seeking a skilled software engineer to contribute to R&D projects focusing on Industry 4.0 solutions. You will develop AAS and OPC UA components across the full value chain, from concept to deployment, in a multinational, distributed team.

The role requires strong C#/Java, plus experience in Python/JavaScript, REST APIs, and modern tooling. A hybrid work model applies with international collaboration and German language willingness.

Qualifikationen

• Strong software development skills in C# and Java.
• Experience with Python and JavaScript.
• Experience across the full software lifecycle (design, implementation, testing, deployment).
• Familiarity with Industry 4.0 standards and protocols such as AAS, OPC UA and MQTT.
• Knowledge of Linux, containerization, CI/CD, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Experience with RabbitMQ and databases is a plus.
• Ability to collaborate in an international distributed team; fluent English; basic German or willingness to learn.

Customers (end-customers and EPC’s) have increased activities, expertise and expectations within this field and ABB AUEN is positioned as a solid supplier and integrator.You will be mainly accountable for:Working as an independent and reliable contributor in R&D projects with limited supervision.Performing various tasks within Industry 4.0 technologies, particularly developing AAS and OPC UA components across the full value chain — from concept building and requirements gathering to design, implementation, integration, testing, technology transfer, maintenance and operations.Understanding and applying applicable processes, standards, guidelines, and requirements, including architectural and design constraints.Contributing to the achievement of assigned targets (quality, time, scope, cost) and raising and addressing risks.Our team dynamicsYou will join a highly competent and dynamic team, where you will be able to thrive.
