QuantumDiamonds GmbH in Munich is seeking a motivated Physics/Engineering student or recent graduate for a six-month, full-time Quantum Lab Engineering Intern role. You will build a new QDM lab from scratch, install optical tables, lasers, and RF electronics, and support ongoing lab operations across multiple labs.

You'll work with a cross-disciplinary team to execute measurement routines, maintain equipment, ensure safety, and document experiments, contributing to hands-on innovation in quantum

Qualifikationen

• Enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in Physics, Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
• Available full time for 6 months, starting as soon as possible.
• First hands-on experience in a lab environment; optics/lasers or RF electronics are a plus.
• Familiar with laboratory measurement instruments (oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies).
• Hands-on mindset with attention to detail and ability to work independently.

Aufgaben

• Build up a new QDM lab from scratch; plan layout, install optical tables, lasers, microscopes, and RF electronics, and bring the system into operation.
• Support setup, maintenance, alignment, and calibration of lab equipment across labs.
• Assist in assembling and testing opto-electronic and mechanical components for sensor heads and systems.
• Prepare and execute measurement routines (fluorescence imaging, magnetic field scans) with physicists and engineers.
• Ensure lab safety, cleanliness, and inventory management including procurement of supplies.
• Maintain detailed experimental documentation and support QA processes.
• Participate in troubleshooting and continuous improvement of lab procedures.

Description

QuantumDiamonds is building the world's first commercial quantum sensing tools for chip failure analysis. As ourQuantum Lab Engineering Intern, you will take on a rare hands-on challenge: building up a brand-new Quantum Diamond Microscope (QDM) lab setup from the ground up, together with our hardware and R&D teams.
At the same time, you will keep our existing lab running: supporting the assembly, testing, and characterization of our quantum sensing systems, and working with lasers, optics, RF components, and diamond quantum sensors. You will see a quantum lab come to life and keep one running, all within six months.
This is afull-time internship for 6 months, starting as soon as possible.

What will you do

• Build up a new QDM lab setup from scratch: planning the layout, installing optical tables, lasers, microscopes, and RF electronics, and bringing the system into operation
• Support the setup, maintenance, alignment, and calibration of lab equipment across our labs
• Assist in assembling and testing opto-electronic and mechanical components used in our sensor heads and systems
• Prepare and execute measurement routines (e.g., fluorescence imaging, magnetic field scans) in collaboration with physicists and engineers
• Ensure lab safety, cleanliness, and organization, including inventory management and procurement of supplies
• Maintain detailed experimental documentation and support quality assurance processes
• Participate in troubleshooting and continuous improvement of lab procedures

What is expected of you

• Enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in Physics, Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field, or comparable practical training
• Available full time for 6 months, starting as soon as possible
• First hands-on experience in a lab environment; experience with optics, lasers, or RF electronics is a strong plus
• Familiarity with laboratory measurement instruments (e.g., oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies)
• Hands-on mindset with high attention to detail and cleanliness
• Proactive, reliable, and comfortable working independently in a dynamic R&D environment
• Fluent in English
