Scalable Capital GmbH is seeking a Quant Developer for wealth management to design and operate a systematic robo-advisor handling multi-billion euro portfolios across assets. You will implement production Python services and translate investment models into reliable, automated workflows that respond to client instructions and market moves.

The role blends software engineering with quantitative finance, tackling risk, costs, taxes, and portfolio rebalancing.

Build the systems that power Scalable Capital's automated wealth management and support our pan-European growth.

You will develop and operate a systematic wealth manager (robo-advisor) managing several billion euros across multi-asset investment strategies. Working at the intersection of software engineering and quantitative finance, you will turn investment models into reliable production systems that respond automatically to client instructions and market movements.

The engineering challenges include risk, cost and tax optimization; configurable portfolio rebalancing; liquidity management; and transitions between securities. You will translate these challenges into well-defined optimization problems and build cost-efficient, cloud-based systems designed to process millions of trades within minutes. Comprehensive automated testing and continuous delivery will help you deploy changes safely and frequently.

You will also develop taxation logic that is essential to Scalable's expansion across Europe and contribute to the development of the Altersvorsorgedepot (AVD), bringing your engineering expertise to retirement investing. A working knowledge of the fundamentals of capital taxation will help you translate tax requirements into accurate, maintainable software.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and operate production-grade Python services alongside software engineers and quantitative developers.
• Translate quantitative investment models into automated portfolio management and trading workflows.
• Develop optimization algorithms that balance investment objectives, risk, transaction costs, taxes and client preferences.
• Build and maintain taxation logic in close collaboration with the tax core team.
• Contribute to the systems and workflows supporting the Altersvorsorgedepot (AVD).
• Design robust APIs and integrations connecting the robo-advisor with internal services and external systems.
• Build scalable, cost-efficient cloud infrastructure for burst workloads and high-volume trade processing.
• Own software quality through comprehensive automated testing, continuous integration, deployment and production monitoring.
• Collaborate with investment managers, traders, wealth managers and the dedicated Robo backend team to turn financial and operational requirements into reliable technical solutions.

Qualifications

• Excellent university degree in computer science, mathematics, natural sciences, or a similar field
• Knowledge in econometrics with an emphasis on portfolio optimization and risk modelling
• A solid working knowledge of the basics of capital taxation
• Passion for the global financial markets
• Experience with convex optimization, exposure to libraries like cvxpy, scipy or cvxopt
• Passion for Python
• Interest in our tech stack: Docker, CI/CD pipelines, serverless architecture, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), relational databases / SQL
• Experience with cloud providers like AWS
• Excellent communication skills that are clear, concise, and targeted towards your audience
• Proactive and independent working style, good time management, fair play
