Tasks and Responsibilities:
The Spaceopal (SPO) Quality Manager, in cooperation with the SPO Product Assurance and Quality Team, holds a staff function and reports to the SPO Chief Executive Officer.
Quality Management and Assurance
- Maintain and continuously improve the Quality System, including management documentation and ISO certifications.
- Plan and coordinate internal audits as per the Internal Audit Plan.
- Plan and coordinate annual Management Reviews, including reporting.
- Perform customer satisfaction evaluations.
- Support Surveillance Audits (e.g., ISO 9001 and ISO 14001).
- Perform subcontractor audits as per GSOp Audit Plan.
- Update and improve QMS Manual, procedures, processes, and templates.
- Conduct QMS training on company processes and procedures.
- Evaluate and rate subcontractors and suppliers.
PA/QA Support Functions
The Quality Manager supports the PA/QA team in defining, designing, engineering, and executing Product Assurance activities, including:
- Planning, implementing, and managing Product Assurance/Quality Assurance during all Galileo project FOC phases.
- Managing surveillance, audits, and oversight of subcontractors regarding product assurance, quality, and safety.
- Developing and ensuring delivery of Product Assurance and Safety concepts and plans for the Galileo FOC phase.
- Setting up and managing a Non-Conformance control program.
- Coordinating internal and external project quality audits.
- Planning and supporting routine and special PA audits across projects and at the company level.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- University degree in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or Electronics.
- Experience in similar activities, preferably in Space, Aviation, Defense, or high-security industrial sectors.
- Experience with the Galileo program is a plus.
- Proven experience in Product Assurance and Quality Assurance, especially in satellite operations.
- Knowledge of aerospace or defense programs, ideally Galileo.
- Deep understanding of auditing and subcontractor oversight.
- Familiarity with ESA-ECSS-Q standards and workmanship procedures.
- Knowledge of the Galileo Program’s system level, deployment status, and criticalities.
- Strong problem-solving skills, decision-making ability, and team collaboration skills.
- Excellent communication skills in English; Italian and/or German are advantageous.
- Proficiency in MS Office and standard office tools.
Work Location:
Spaceopal Headquarters, Munich, Germany. Periodic travel to GCC-D (Oberpfaffenhofen, Munich) and GCC-I (Fucino, Italy) may be required, including participation in meetings, audits, and inspections in Europe.
