ZABEL in Hamburg is seeking a QA Release Manager – Engineering to own the QA strategy and release management across the product portfolio. You will drive test automation, coordinate manual testing, and ensure high-quality software delivery for immersive 3D solutions.

The role requires strong experience in QA, release processes, and collaboration with Engineering and Product teams. Hamburg-based hybrid work arrangement and competitive compensation up to €100,000 per year are offered.

Qualifikationen

• At least 5 years in Software Quality Assurance.
• Experience with software releases and release planning.
• Strong test automation experience.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and software delivery workflows.
• Excellent written and spoken English; German is a plus.

Aufgaben

• Own and continuously develop QA strategy, testing standards and release processes across multiple products and technology components.
• Define and maintain a comprehensive test and device matrix for immersive applications and hardware platforms.
• Establish and expand test automation including unit, integration and smoke testing with engineering teams.
• Integrate automated quality gates into CI/CD pipelines.
• Plan, coordinate and execute manual testing for complex interactive applications and hardware integrations.
• Take ownership of release planning, versioning, release documentation and go/no-go decisions.
• Coordinate bug triage and ensure transparent prioritisation between Engineering and Product.
• Define and monitor quality metrics and KPIs to identify risks and improve software quality.
• Act as central point of contact for quality topics across Engineering, Product and other stakeholders.
• Help establish scalable QA and release structures as organisation and product portfolio grow.

With an international engineering team, short decision-making processes and a strong focus on product quality, the organisation is currently scaling both its technology platform and its development processes.

For this next stage of growth, we are looking for an experienced QA Release Manager - Engineering who will take ownership of quality assurance and release management across the product portfolio.

Your Responsibilities

• Own and continuously develop the overall QA strategy, testing standards and release processes across multiple products and technology components
• Define and maintain a comprehensive test and device matrix covering immersive applications, different hardware devices and platform services
• Establish and expand test automation, including unit, integration and smoke testing, in close collaboration with the engineering teams
• Integrate automated quality gates and testing processes into existing CI/CD pipelines
• Plan, coordinate and execute manual testing for complex interactive applications, multiplayer functionality and hardware integrations
• Take ownership of release planning, versioning, release documentation and go/no-go decisions
• Coordinate bug triage and ensure transparent prioritisation between Engineering and Product
• Define and monitor relevant quality metrics and KPIs to identify risks and continuously improve software quality
• Act as a central point of contact for quality-related topics across Engineering, Product and other stakeholders
• Help establish scalable QA and release structures as the organisation and product portfolio continue to grow

Your Profile

• At least 5 years of professional experience in Software Quality Assurance, including a minimum of 2 years with responsibility for software releases
• Experience testing 3D, gaming, XR or similarly complex interactive software applications
• Strong hands‑on knowledge of test automation and modern testing methodologies
• Practical experience working with CI/CD pipelines and software development workflows
• A strong understanding of release management, versioning and structured software delivery processes
• Comfortable combining automated testing with structured manual testing where automation alone is not sufficient
• Highly structured and documentation-driven working style with a strong focus on reliability and product quality
• Confident communicator who can effectively collaborate with Engineering, Product and other technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Ability to take ownership and build processes rather than simply operate within existing structures
• Very good English skills; German language skills are an advantage

Experience with Unity testing frameworks, device or hardware automation, safety-critical or regulated software environments, or an ISTQB certification is considered a plus.
