ABOUT THE ROLE
A long-established international Mechanical & Electrical building services contractor is looking for an MEP Project Planner to join their Operations team in Frankfurt, Germany.
With several decades in the market, the business delivers complete M&E design, installation and maintenance solutions across a broad spread of sectors - data centres, pharmaceutical, food, industrial and logistics, mining, healthcare, commercial, hotel and leisure, high-end residential, public sector and energy. They have a strong track record of delivering large-scale projects across mainland Europe, the UK and Ireland, and are a multiple-year award winner for the way the business is run.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create the master baseline schedule in Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project in line with company procedures, industry best practice and client specifications
- Build project delivery schedules using the schedule hierarchy and communicate these to the project team
- Create separate and integrated templates and model programmes across pre-construction, construction and commissioning
- Produce detailed schedules covering design, procurement, installation and close-out
- Incorporate trade contractor schedules into the company schedule hierarchy
- Communicate scheduling and project controls matters to the project team, the client, the design team and trade contractors
- Manage progress reporting and integrate progress information into company progress reports
- Create and monitor KPIs, and produce weekly and monthly dashboards and reports
- Engage in the change management process and assess the impact of change on the programme
- Create and manage the commissioning programme, including commissioning KPIs and reporting regime
- Prepare time impact analyses to support extension of time claims
- Evaluate extension of time claims submitted by trade contractors
- Mentor and provide training to junior staff
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
- Proven experience working as an M&E / MEP Planner
- Experience in construction planning within Mechanical / Electrical building services contracting
- Microsoft Project experience is essential
- Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail, with the ability to produce clear reports
- Strong relationship-building skills, comfortable dealing with clients and stakeholders at all levels
- Able to work to your own directive and hold to strict timeline schedules
DESIRABLE
- Planning experience on large commercial building services projects
- Experience of commissioning programmes and commissioning KPI reporting
- Experience preparing or evaluating time impact analyses and extension of time claims
- Experience mentoring or training junior planning staff
EXPERIENCE
You will come from an M&E / MEP building services contracting background, planning the mechanical and electrical scope on large-scale commercial or industrial projects. Experience across sectors such as data centres, pharmaceutical, industrial, logistics, healthcare or commercial is directly relevant. The key requirement is that you have planned building services delivery - design, procurement, installation, commissioning and close-out - rather than planning at a general main-contractor or civils level only.
