Job summary

North.io is seeking a Project Manager to lead a customer project from handover to acceptance and operations in Kiel. You will build and maintain realistic project plans, manage risks and changes, and report to the PMO. Fluent German and English are required, with experience handling externally facing projects.

Hybrid work is offered with visits to customers as needed. Salary ranges between €60,000 and €80,000 gross per year depending on experience, with a start in a dynamic, startup-style

Qualifications

• Experience managing projects for external customers.
• Fluent in German and English (spoken and written).
• Ability to write clear decisions and maintain documentation.

Responsibilities

• Takeover a customer project from Sales and run it through to final acceptance and transition to operations.
• Build a project plan with realistic schedule, resources, and budget.
• Lead the project team professionally with no disciplinary reporting line.
• Prepare and run project decision points: handover, release, acceptance.
• Manage change orders and document all scope adjustments.
• Escalate risks three weeks before landings and manage them.
• Keep project data accurate for weekly delivery reporting and monthly leadership updates.
• Be the operational counterpart in conversations with the customer.

Theprojectsthatdeliverthesesystemstocustomersaregettinglarger. Software,hardwareandcustomeroperationsarrivein the same plan, andthatplanhasto hold.WearebuildingupourPMO androllingoutonedeliveryprocessacrossallcustomerprojects—definedphases,defineddecisionpoints,definedartefacts.

AsProject Manager (F/M/D)youtakeonecustomerprojectathandoverand carry it toacceptance.Youplan it,yousteerit, andyouarethepersonthecustomercallswhensomethingmoves.

Reportingline:Youreportto the Chief Project Management Officer (CPMO).

KeyResponsibilities

Qualifications& Experience

• Youhavecarriedresponsibilityforprojectswithexternalcustomers— notsupportedthem,carriedthem.

• Youcanbuildaprojectplanthatsurvivescontactwitha realproject, andyoukeepitcurrentagainstresistance.
• Youseethecommercialconsequence:whatadelaycosts,whatascopeincreasecosts, whopaysfor it.
• Youwriteclearly. Adecisionthatisnotdocumenteddidnot happen.
• German and English,bothfluent.Ourteamworksin English; a largepartofourcustomersdo not.
• A security clearance (Sicherheitsüberprüfung nach SÜG) may be required for this position and therefore your eligibility is a key criteria.

DesiredCompetencies

• Experience inprojectsthatcombinesoftwareandhardware.
• Workingknowledgeof Asanaorcomparabletooling.
• Familiaritywithgeospatial,hydrographicoroceanographicdataisoptional.

Whatthisroleisnot

• Not aprocessrole. Thedeliveryprocessisownedby the PMO.Youworkinsideit andlearnit on theproject—youarenot theoneintroducingit.
• Not areportingjob.Ifyoulikebuildingstatusslidesbutavoidtheconversationbehindthem,thiswill notwork.
