Job Overview

The Project Engineer demonstrates both the desire and potential to lead teams across multiple project scopes, including engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, and commissioning. This role supports project leaders and is responsible for the financial and technical success of assigned project areas.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

• Coordinate and review inputs from various engineering disciplines, functional departments, and subcontractors for the engineering portion of projects.
• Ensure the generation of deliverables, reports, and procedures required for the engineering portion of the project.
• Support management of the engineering portion of the project as directed by the Project Manager.
• Apply expertise and project experience to solve complex problems by identifying innovative solutions.
• Manage time to meet objectives and forecast and plan resource requirements.
• Assist leadership in updating policies, procedures, systems, and requirements to incorporate digital project delivery and integrated engineering applications.
• Understand assigned estimates, contracts, and budgets for each function.
• Work with Project Controls and Contract Management to successfully incorporate change management.
• Act as a liaison between stakeholders, project teams, third-party agencies, and subcontractors.
• Assist in preparing and implementing Engineering Project Execution Plans (PEP) to incorporate digital project delivery and integrated engineering applications.
• Review the Project Plan with the project planner and prepare subcontract scope packages as required.
• Attend Engineering Project Readiness reviews as needed.
• Establish streamlined policies, procedures, and software development requirements to capture technical changes and impacts into the Project Lifecycle Management System for scope management.
• Establish processes to maximize production of deliverables, lists, and drawings from authoring tools and databases.
• Support processes for digitally tracked, managed, and reported queries between groups.
• Attend Weekly Progress Meetings related to Project Lifecycle Management platform implementation and prepare meeting minutes.
• Attend change management meetings to support project change management programs.
• Monitor implementation of integrated engineering and digital project delivery, including site visits and attendance at project team meetings as necessary.
• Liaise with Engineering Quality to develop audit procedures for integrated engineering applications and digital project delivery processes.
• Monitor effectiveness of policies and procedures and ensure continual improvement through feedback loops.
• Keep the Project Information Manager and Center of Excellence informed of all activities and concerns.
• Travel as necessary to attend customer and project meetings and facilitate resolution of engineering interface issues, including travel to other engineering offices, fabrication yards, and offshore locations.
• Attend Technical Quality Audit reviews as needed.
• Facilitate reviews of previous projects' lessons learned and ensure they are entered into the database system.
• Ensure internal standards and client, industry, and code standards are incorporated in Project Lifecycle Management (PLM).
• Contribute to PLM solutions for action tracking, collaboration, technical queries, interface management, deviation requests, and issue tracking.
• Coordinate with Global Project Management and Controls to develop a fit-for-purpose project execution tool in PLM.
• Design system test plans and detailed test conditions.
• Lead User Acceptance Testing for Project Management/Project Engineering.
• Drive for resolution until satisfactory test completion.
• Develop training material for Project Management and Project Engineering in PLM and provide training.
• Assist in configuring and deploying PLM systems on new revenue projects as required.
• Troubleshoot PLM problem areas and support projects in resolving issues.

Essential Qualifications and Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction, or Project Management.
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience within the engineering and construction industry with a foundational understanding of project execution.
• Ability to work as both a team member and a team leader.
• Broad experience with technical activities on projects, including the ability to learn fundamentals of onshore and offshore operations.
• Good knowledge of discipline design techniques, analysis methods, and general workflow.
• General knowledge of the theory, content, and application of statutory codes and guidelines.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, both written and spoken.
• Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Access, PowerPoint, Excel, and Project.
