commencing at the earliest opportunity.

The professorship will be filled in a joint appointment procedure with the Leibniz Institute for Innovative Microelectronics (IHP) according to the so-called Jülich model. The IHP is a member of the Leibniz Association and the world's leading research institute for silicon and silicon-germanium based systems, high-frequency circuits and technologies, including new materials. The area of responsibility includes the deputy management of the Materials Research Department at IHP, which consists of the working groups “2D Materials”, “Semiconductor Quantum Materials”, “Adaptive Materials” and “Computational Materials”.

A high degree of methodological expertise is essential for competitive cutting-edge research in the field of computer-aided material and component development in microelectronics. Research activities should focus on the development and application of state-of-the-art approaches for modeling and analyzing the optical, electrical and mechanical properties of novel materials for future microelectronic components.

Therefore, in addition to the application of existing methods, the development of novel, tailor‑made approaches for the modeling and simulation of modern devices with new material components is a central part of the research activities of this professorship.

Active contributions to joint projects with the BTU and research partners based in Cottbus are expected in order to expand the research competence of the BTU in the field of computer‑aided material and device simulations.
The teaching tasks of 2 LVS include lectures, exercises and practicals in the Master's program for students of physics or micro- and nanoelectronics and related courses.

We are looking for a nationally and internationally recognized personality with experience in the fields of microelectronics and computer‑aided material simulations in modern components. If you do not have sufficient knowledge of German, you must be willing to learn German as soon as possible, which will ensure your participation in the management of the department at the IHP, the faculty and in university and non‑university committees as well as teaching in German.
