The Faculty of Medicine of Goethe University Frankfurt am Main and the University Hospital Frankfurt, Department of Pediatrics (Director: Prof. Dr. Jan‑Henning Klusmann), invite applications for the following position as civil servant or public employee starting as soon as possible.
This professorship is located at the Department of Pediatrics and represents the field of Pediatric Cardiology in its full scope across clinical care, teaching, and research. Within the Department of Pediatrics, close integration with the divisions of Neonatology and Pediatric Intensive Care is expected.
We are looking for an outstanding clinician with extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric cardiovascular diseases. Proven leadership in a clinical setting and a sound understanding of healthcare economics are essential. The position requires a strong commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration, particularly with the departments of Cardiology and Angiology, Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery, and other cooperating clinical units. Formal requirements include a completed degree in medicine, a doctoral degree, further academic achievements (e.g. habilitation, habilitation‑equivalent achievements – e.g., acquired within a junior professorship or in a non‑university context). The board certification in Pediatrics, the subspecialty qualification in Pediatric Cardiology, and the authorization to provide full postgraduate training are prerequisites. Moreover, the additional qualification in ‘pediatric intensive care medicine’ is considered desirable, as well as specific expertise in interventional pediatric cardiology. You must demonstrate internationally recognized scientific achievements in the field of Pediatric Cardiology, along with documented experience in the design and conduct of clinical and translational studies. Active participation in the faculty’s research profile is expected, in particular within cardiovascular research networks such as SFB 1531, TRR 267, or the Cardio‑Pulmonary Institute (CPI). A strong commitment to academic teaching is required, including the development of innovative, practice‑oriented formats, as well as active participation in academic self‑governance.
