WSM - Walter Solbach Metallbau GmbH seeks a trainee truck driver to operate our 40-ton trucks and perform on-site assembly and crane unloading at customer sites.
The role includes a three-year training program with cross-company exposure, a clean criminal record, and class B driving license. German language proficiency at least C1 is required, with weekend shifts not part of the schedule.
On the road with freight, responsibility and skill.
Our products are often delivered using our own articulated trucks - including on-site assembly. You transport shelters and prefabricated room systems, unload them with the integrated crane and assemble them at the customer's premises. Everything you need to know and be able to do is taught at vocational school, the Training and Further Education Center for Transport and Logistics and in practice.
Here’s how your assignment works:
The trucks are loaded the day before the trip. We set off at 4:00 a.m.—with destinations throughout Germany and in neighboring countries. The route is precisely planned. Once on site, follow the customer’s storage or setup instructions. Depending on the cargo, unloading is done with a crane. Then the assembly begins: unpack the item, align it precisely with the crane, secure the anchors, and, if necessary, set up the electrical connection. In addition to trips that include assembly, there are also delivery-only routes.
What matters:
Every job is different, and route lengths vary. That’s why you need to be flexible with your schedule and—as is typical for this line of work—be prepared for trips lasting several days. However, weekend shifts are not part of the job at WSM.
What you’ll bring to the table:
A clean criminal record, a Class B driver’s license, a passion for driving a 40-metric-ton truck, a sense of responsibility, attention to detail, physical fitness, and manual dexterity. You’ll acquire all other required driver’s licenses and qualifications during a training program lasting several months that involves multiple companies.
Required qualifications: Secondary school certificate, driving license class B, at least C1 level German
Training duration: 3 years
