Job summary

Rocket Factory Augsburg AG is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Planner to coordinate shop-floor activities, schedules, and readiness for space components. You will create and maintain work instructions, BOMs, and production plans, ensuring materials and tools are available and aligned with engineering and quality requirements.

You bring vocational training in industrial mechanics or a comparable field, experience planning manufacturing, and the ability to read drawings.

• Completed technical vocational training in industrial mechanics or a comparable field.
• Proven experience planning, organizing, and coordinating manufacturing or production activities in a technical environment.
• Ability to create and maintain manufacturing documentation (work instructions, production plans, BOMs).
• Strong capability to read and interpret technical drawings and engineering documentation.

Your Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and monitor manufacturing activities, including build schedules, resource allocation, and production readiness for space components and systems.
• Create and maintain production documentation such as work instructions, manufacturing plans, process descriptions, and bills of materials (BOMs).
• Support production teams on the shop floor by ensuring materials, tools, and resources are available when needed.
• Identify production inefficiencies, analyze root causes, and implement practical process improvements to increase quality, efficiency, and throughput.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, quality, supply chain, and production teams to ensure smooth execution of manufacturing activities.
• Ensure manufacturing processes comply with internal quality standards, safety requirements, and applicable industry regulations.
• Provide technical guidance and day‑to‑day support to production technicians during assembly, manufacturing, and integration activities.

Your Profile

Must-Have Skills

• Completed technical vocational training, for example in industrial mechanics, manufacturing or a comparable technical field.
• Proven experience planning, organizing, and coordinating manufacturing or production activities in a technical production environment.
• Ability to create and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, production plans, and bills of materials.
• Strong capability to read, interpret, and work from technical drawings and engineering documentation.
• Practical hands‑on manufacturing knowledge, including conventional turning and milling processes.
• Experience supporting manufacturing preparation and production readiness activities.
• Strong problem‑solving skills with a proactive, quality‑focused, and detail‑oriented approach.
• Good understanding of production safety requirements and workshop practices.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, technicians, and cross‑functional stakeholders.
• Professional communication skills in both German (B2+) and English (B2+).
• Strong digital literacy, including confident use of Microsoft Office applications.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience working in aerospace, space, defense, high‑tech manufacturing, or other highly regulated industries.
• Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, 5S, or Kaizen.
• Familiarity with ERP or manufacturing execution systems (MES).
• Experience supporting prototype, low‑volume, or high‑complexity production environments.
• Understanding of quality management systems and traceability requirements.
• Additional experience in assembly, integration, or testing of electromechanical systems.
