Job description

ZEISS Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology

Enabler for smaller, more powerful, and more energy-efficient microchips

Working for tomorrow today.

Around 80 percent of all microchips worldwide are produced using ZEISS technologies. As the centerpiece of every electronically controlled system, they have become an integral part of our everyday lives – whether in smartphones, smart homes or smart factories. ZEISS is a technology leader in the field of semiconductor manufacturing equipment. With high-precision lithography optics, photomask systems and process control solutions, ZEISS enables the production of ever smaller, increasingly powerful, and more energy-efficient microchips, and thus plays a pivotal role in the age of micro- and nanoelectronics.

Overview In our team, seven engineers and metrology specialists (m/f/x) are currently developing high-precision measurement and inspection processes for optical manufacturing. As an engineering team at the interface between research, development, and production, we are responsible for introducing new measurement technologies as well as the sustainable operation and continuous optimization of existing measurement processes in a serial-production environment. If you see yourself in the following description, we look forward to your application!

Your Role
  • Actively shape the strategic advancement of DUV metrology and share responsibility for the long-term direction of the metrology landscape to ensure the long-term competitiveness of DUV metrology
  • Provide technical guidance for critical measurement processes and measurement systems, and serve as a technical contact and decision-maker in escalations
  • Evaluate and implement new measurement technologies, methods, and procedures with regard to quality, productivity, scalability, and cost-effectiveness
  • Analyze complex metrological challenges in manufacturing, industrialization, and ramp-up, and develop sustainable solutions
  • Lead strategic initiatives to advance measurement processes and to increase automation, efficiency, and plant availability
  • Early identify technological risks, bottlenecks, and competency gaps, initiate appropriate countermeasures, and derive and drive cross-functional technological visions and roadmaps for future metrology
Your profile
  • A successfully completed degree in physics, optics, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, production engineering, or a comparable field
  • PhD is desirable; alternatively, several years of outstanding expertise in a technology field
  • Relevant professional experience in the development, industrialization, or application of complex metrological systems, with strong expertise in high-precision metrology, measurement methods, and metrological processes
  • High degree of innovation, strategic thinking, and technical judgment, with the ability to communicate complex technical relationships to management and experts
  • Strong initiative and the ability to drive change and development across the organization
  • Communication and teamwork skills and enjoyment of interdisciplinary collaboration, plus very good written and spoken German and English
