  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical or comparable Engineering.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in R&D process development, scale-up and validation.
  • Experience with external manufacturers, suppliers, or partners.
  • Knowledge of web handling and process mapping between materials, conditions, and product performance.
  • Strong data analysis, experimental execution, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Fluent in German and English.

About the Role

We are looking for a Process Development Engineer (m/f/d)to join our team in Putzbrunn, Germany, for an initial 12-month temporary assignment, with the potential to transition into a permanent position. In this role, you will lead the development, scale-up, and validation of manufacturing processes, with a focus on coating, lamination, and electrospinning technologies. You will collaborate across product development, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and external partners to translate product requirements into robust, scalable process solutions. This hands-on role offers the opportunity to solve complex technical challenges and directly support the commercialization of new products

Responsibilities
  • Lead process development and scale-up, defining process windows and material-process relationships for robust, reproducible manufacturing.
  • Apply Design for Manufacturing principles to align product, material, process, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Partner with product development engineers on prototyping, process development, and commercialization.
  • Serve as a key technical interface with manufacturing teams, external partners, and suppliers.
  • Plan and execute experiments, process trials, scale-up, validation, and sample delivery.

Required Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical or comparable Engineering degree.
  • Credentials: Min. of 5 years of relevant experience in R&D process development, scale-up, and validation.
  • Experience: Experience with external manufacturers, suppliers, or partners.
  • Knowledge: Competence in web handling and process mapping between materials, conditions, and product performance. Understanding of Design for Manufacturing principles.
  • Skills: Strong data analysis, experimental execution, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills. Effective cross‑functional communication including across engineering and supply chain.
  • Abilities: Ability to translate product requirements into specifications. Ability to work hands‑on and manage priorities in a fast paced environment.
  • Travel: Ability to travel up to 10%.
  • Language skills: Fluent in German and English is mandatory
Desired Qualifications
  • Education: in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or a closely related field preferred
  • Credentials: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in R&D process development and scale-up involving coating, lamination, and electrospinning.
