Job summary

ThreatDown is seeking a Principal Software Developer (MacOS) to lead the development of enterprise-grade macOS protection tools and products. You will design and implement solutions that safeguard thousands of enterprise users against complex malware threats, while collaborating across teams in an Agile startup setting.

Ideal candidates will have deep macOS expertise, strong Swift/Objective-C skills, and a track record of delivering robust, high-performance software with a security-first mindset.

Qualifications

• Extensive macOS development experience and performance optimization.
• Proficient in Swift and/or Objective-C.
• Experience with Apple System Extensions and Network Extension.
• Strong OO design and debugging skills.
• Ability to work in an Agile startup environment.
• Familiarity with code signing, entitlements, sandboxing, notarization.

What You Will Do

• Develop new and exciting products in the fight against malware
• Build cutting edge Enterprise grade endpoint protection for MacOS
• Play a key role in designing and developing tools to support all the ThreatDown initiatives
• Collect and process data and metrics to track emerging threats so we can keep one step ahead of the bad guys
• Support your fellow developers; proactively communicate, document, unit-test, and peer review
• Work collaboratively and effectively with a range of people in an Agile environment
• Create superior results while building new skills
• Work as a part of team to ensure everyone meets their goals

Skills You'll Need To Have

• Understanding of Object-Oriented development practices
• Experience working with Apple’s System Extensions and Network Extension frameworks
• Ability to work on a high-performance team in a high-tech startup or startup-like environment
• Working knowledge of Swift and/or Objective-c coding languages
• Experience with backend development on macOS, including data management, networking, and system integrations
• Ability to debug and optimize macOS applications for performance
• Familiarity with foundational macOS frameworks and development tools, including Foundation, Xcode, Instruments, and LLDB
• Strong understanding of macOS system architecture and internals
• Familiarity with macOS security and distribution requirements, including code signing, entitlements, sandboxing, privacy permissions, and notarization
• Ability to debug, profile, and optimize macOS applications for performance, reliability, and resource efficiency

Good To Have

• Understanding of cybersecurity principles, including least privilege, defense in depth, secure-by-default design, threat modeling, and attack-surface reduction
• Familiarity with secure coding practices, vulnerability management, and common application and network security risks
• Familiarity with Apple platform deployment and management technologies, including MDM and configuration profiles
