Zusammenfassung

Huawei's Ohm Research Center (Nuremberg) and Power Conversion Technology Laboratory are seeking a Principal Engineer for Power Electronics focused on computing systems (Datacenter, ASICs, xPU, HPCs). You will supervise technical work, develop roadmaps for power management, and drive innovations in DC‑DC converters, control, magnetics, and packaging.

Qualifikationen

  • Ph.D. in Power Electronics with minimum 2 years post‑graduate R&D experience (or MSc with extensive experience).
  • Strong technical portfolio with granted patents, peer‑reviewed publications, or open‑source projects.
  • Proven R&D track record in high‑frequency, high‑efficiency, high‑current density power delivery.
  • Deep expertise in power supply design for xPU and HPCs, including topology, control, magnetics, and packaging.
  • Professional fluency in English with excellent documentation and presentation skills.

Aufgaben

  • Provide technical supervision of projects/work packages for next‑gen BMP/PSiP/VRM products for computing systems.
  • Develop roadmaps for power management and power supply for computing systems (ASICs, xPU, HPCs).
  • Propose new technical solutions to core challenges in DC‑DC topologies, control, magnetics, semiconductors, PMIC, packaging.
  • Innovate system‑level power management and architectures for xPUs and HPCs.
  • Publish patents and papers; produce insight reports on DC‑DC converter technologies for computing systems.
  • Conduct feasibility analyses of cutting‑edge DC‑DC concepts; establish cooperation with European institutions.
  • Represent the center at internal/external events and supervise junior colleagues.

Responsible for Advanced Technology Research, Architecture Evolution Design and Strategic Technology Planning.

Power Conversion Technology Laboratory

Responsible for Advanced Digital Power Technology Research, Architecture Evolution Design and Strategic Technology Planning, and plays an important role in the Huawei Digital Power business in the design and development of power converters and control systems for applications such as PV Solar & Battery Energy Storage Field, Data Centers, Electric Vehicle, and Embedded Power Supply.

Principal Engineer - Power Electronics for Computing Systems (Datacenter, Telecom, ASICs, xPU, HPCs) (m/f/d)
Your mission
  • Technical supervision of projects and/or working packages related to next generation BMP, PSiP, and VRM products used in computing system applications (ASICs, xPU, HPCs)
  • Development of roadmaps for the business of power management and power supply for computing systems (ASICs, xPU, HPCs)
  • Proposal of new technical solutions for main challenges faced in the business of power management and power supply for xPUs and HPCs. Focus on: DC‑DC converter topologies, control, magnetic, semiconductors, PMIC, and package.
  • Proposal of innovations in the system level power management and power architectures for xPUs and HPCs.
  • Production of patents and other publications in the domain of power management and power supply for xPUs and HPCs.
  • Production of insight reports about DC‑DC converter topologies, control, magnetic, semiconductor, and package used in BMP, PSiP, and VRM for computing applications (ASICs, xPU, HPCs).
  • Feasibility analysis of new cutting‑edge concepts related to DC‑DC converters in computing applications (ASICs, xPU, HPCs)
  • Establish and maintain cooperation with industrial institutions and universities in Europe.
  • Participation, representing the local research center, in internal and external events (e.g., conferences, workshops, etc).
  • Supervision of less experienced work colleagues.
Your areas of expertise
  • (Required) Ph.D. in Power Electronics (or related field) with a minimum of 2 years of post‑graduate R&D experience. M.Sc. accepted only with several years (10+) of advanced R&D experience in world‑class corporate or research institutes within the computing power domain.
  • Demonstrated technical portfolio with granted patents, peer‑reviewed publications (e.g., IEEE, APEC, PCIM), or widely‑adopted open‑source projects.
  • Proven R&D track record in high‑frequency, high‑efficiency, high‑current density power delivery solutions.
  • Deep expertise on power supply design (i.e., architecture, topology, control, magnetics, package) for xPU and HPCs (system requirements, cutting‑edge technologies, and roadmaps).
  • Professional fluency in English with excellent technical documentation and presentation skills.
