Job summary

Micron Technology, Inc. seeks a CAD Engineer to advance semiconductor design flows, supporting CMOS layout, verification, and tool development.

This full-time role in Germany offers a competitive base salary (€100,000–€169,000 per year), performance-based pay, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Coursework or experience in EE, CE or CS including VLSI circuit design and software.
• Expertise in IC design CAD tools (schematics, layouts, simulation, and verification tools).
• Exposure to CMOS circuit design and area, speed, and power tradeoffs.
• Excellent programming fundamentals; proficient in Python and/or C/C++.
• Experience with AI/LLM, Agentic AI, Applying AI, AI Assistant is a plus.

A CAD Engineer is a development/support role focusing on semi-conductor/EDA design flows/tools. At Micron Technology, Inc., you will be working in a fast-paced, collaborative, production support role evaluating, developing, improving, and debugging both in-house and commercial EDA tools and flows for the design, physical layout, and verification of CMOS integrated circuits.

Responsibilities and Tasks

• Serves as a subject matter of expert within a technical discipline

• Providing training, documentation, and support to end-users on new tools and methods
• Collaborating closely with design and process teams
• Develop and apply CAD software engineering methods, theories, and research techniques in support of the organization's product development
• Assignments include crafting and developing CAD software, assessing architecture and hardware limitations, and defining and implementing CAD software engineering applications

Required Skills and Experience

• Coursework or experience in EE, CE or CS including VLSI circuit design and software
• Expertise in IC design CAD tools (schematics, layouts, simulation, and verification tools) is required
• Exposure to CMOS circuit design and implementation including area, speed, and power tradeoffs
• Excellent programming fundamentals are required
• In-depth experience in the SKILL and Python programming languages are preferred, but recent and proven experience in C, C++, Visual Basic, Perl, or Lisp will be considered
• Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills are required
• Experienced with Unix and shell scripting is helpful
• Experienced with RTL2GDS workflow is a plus (Fusion Compiler, Innovus, PrimeTime, Formality, RedHawk-SC, SpyGlass, etc)
• Experience with EDA software in analog/digital verification flows, Parasitic extraction flows, Design DB versioning System
• Experienced in AI/LLM, Agentic AI, Applying AI, AI Assistant

Compensation and Benefits

• Full-time
• The base salary range that Micron estimates it could pay for this position full-time is: €100,000.00 - €169,000.00 per year.
• Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
• The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target base pay for new hire salaries of the position.
• Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, tenure and relevant education or training.
• The pay scale is subject to change depending on business needs.
• Eligibility for a variable plan subject to the personal achievement of objectives and the company's performance
