We are committed to curiosity-driven fundamental research and to transferring concepts and structures from mathematics into biological sciences. Successful candidates should be willing to closely collaborate with at least one of the research groups of the institute.

We are particularly seeking to hire in applied and computational areas of mathematics like:

  • Applied Algebraic Geometry and Topology
  • Computational Geometry / Topology
  • Differential Equations, Stochastics, and Mathematical Modelling
  • Mathematical Statistics and Data Science

We also hire in fields exploring the interaction of mathematics and the sciences like:

  • Algebraic Statistics
  • Bioinformatics
  • Combinatorics and Applied Algebraic Geometry
  • Computer Algebra
  • Data Science / Mathematics of Data
  • Dynamical Systems and Differential Equations
  • Information Geometry
  • Higher Structures and Category Theory

Your qualifications
  • Doctoral degree (PhD) in Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • A strong research track record in one or more of the areas above.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to formulate and develop mathematical approaches to scientific questions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary environment, including with researchers from the life sciences.
Our offer
  • A 2-year full-time postdoc position with the possibility of extension.
  • A diversified job in a dynamic international team in a renowned research institution
  • Salary according to TVöD Bund, up to E13 based on qualifications and experience
