A leading research institute in Jena is seeking a Postdoc for Electrochemical CO₂ Separation. You will work on synthesizing polymers and testing CO₂ separation processes. Reference No.: HI 2025/9

Position: Postdoc (f/m/d) in the PolyCapture project at the Helmholtz Institute for Polymers in Energy Applications Jena (HIPOLE). Start date: January 1, 2026. Location: Jena, Germany.

Responsibilities

• Synthesis and chemical modification of redox‑active polymers (e.g., polyanthraconones)
• Synthesis and structural characterization of carbon‑polymer hybrid materials
• Assembly of a measurement setup and electrochemical testing of CO₂ separation from gas mixtures on the basis of redox‑active polymers
• Summary, presentation and publication of the results (in English language)

Qualifications

• PhD in Chemistry or Materials Science
• Distinct and proved experience in Materials Chemistry and/or Electrochemistry
• Experience with analytical methods for materials characterization
• Very good knowledge in electrochemistry and sorption
• Very good written and spoken English skills
