Zalion is on a mission to eliminate repetitive procurement work through agentic AI. We’re building autonomous agents that operate deep within enterprise procurement — navigating messy data, legacy systems, and complex workflows to deliver real impact.

We’re looking for a hands‑on Platform Architect who can set a crisp architectural direction, modernize and harden our platform as we scale, and help us build a system that is reliable, secure, and straightforward to evolve.

This is not a “draw boxes and disappear” role. You will write, review, and ship changes when needed — and you’ll also establish the guardrails and principles that make a small team move fast without accumulating architectural debt.

🚀 What You’ll be responsible for

You will:

Own the architectural north star for Zalion’s product and platform: clear principles, trade-offs, and pragmatic standards that enable speed and quality.

Design scalable SaaS foundations: tenancy boundaries, data isolation, authN/authZ, auditability, and operability suitable for enterprise environments.

Evolve our cloud‑native platform on AWS for availability, resilience, and cost effectiveness (not just “it works”).

Drive event‑driven and workflow‑oriented architecture where it makes sense: clean domain boundaries, reliable async processing, and debuggable systems.

Establish architecture practices that engineers actually like using:

• lightweight RFCs / ADRs
• design reviews with clear decision‑making
• “paved roads” and reference implementations

Partner with platform and product engineers to improve:

• reliability (SLOs/SLIs, incident readiness, postmortems, reducing toil)
• security (least privilege, secure defaults, secrets, supply chain hygiene)

Help us meet enterprise expectations (e.g., SOC 2 / ISO 27001‑style controls): logging, access controls, change management evidence, and sensible policies.

Collaborate directly with founders, PM, and customers to translate real procurement workflows into an architecture that stays maintainable under pressure.

Backend: Python (FastAPI), async processing, service integrations

Frontend: Next.js (React, TypeScript), TanStack Query/Router

Cloud: AWS (ECS/Fargate, Lambda, SQS/SNS, Bedrock and surrounding infra)

Observability: Sentry + metrics/logging/tracing (Grafana/Prometheus‑style stack)

AI: LLM workflows and evaluation tooling (LangChain/LangGraph/LangSmith patterns)

✅ What We’re Looking For

Proven experience owning software and platform architecture for production systems (ideally SaaS, multi‑tenant, and/or enterprise‑facing).

Strong distributed systems instincts: you think in failure modes, backpressure, idempotency, and observability.

Deep practical cloud knowledge (AWS preferred): networking, IAM, security boundaries, and designing systems that survive real‑world incidents.

Fluency with modern delivery and platform practices: IaC, CI/CD, DevSecOps, and measurable reliability.

You can keep things simple: no buzzword architecture — just clear designs, honest trade‑offs, and systems that engineers can operate at 3 a.m.

Bonus points if you have experience with: event‑driven systems, cloud migration/modernization, compliance‑heavy environments, MLOps/LLM‑enabled systems.
