Job Description

This role offers multidisciplinary, advanced-level still photography and videography services for a wide variety of projects and clients, creating images and video content that strengthen faith, highlight humanitarian service, and amplify the Church’s global message.

As a key member of the Communication and Publishing Department, the Photographer/Videographer partners with Church leaders and area communication teams to produce visual content that is Christ-centered, compassionate, global, straightforward, hopeful, humble, and inspiring, consistent with the Church’s Permanent Brand Guide.

Responsibilities
  • Storytelling and Content Creation – Travel extensively across the Europe Central Area to document inspiring stories of faith, service, and discipleship. Produce high-quality photography and videography for newsroom articles, press releases, social media, and Church publications.
  • Creative and Technical Expertise – Make independent creative and technical decisions regarding cameras, lenses, lighting, and editing to achieve the desired visual impact and meet project objectives. Maintain industry-standard excellence in image composition, color, sound, and storytelling.
  • Project Leadership – Lead all phases of the photography and videography process — including pre‑production planning, production execution, and post‑production delivery — while ensuring each project is completed on time, within scope, and in alignment with Church standards.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration – Partner closely with senior Church leaders, Area Communication staff, and headquarters departments. Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and trust — particularly when working on sacred or sensitive projects.
  • Mentorship and Team Leadership – Support and mentor junior photographers, contractors, and assistants, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and excellence.
  • Asset Management – Archive and manage digital assets according to Church standards. Ensure photos, video clips, and metadata are properly organized, tagged, and accessible through official digital asset management systems.
  • Logistics and Budget Management – Oversee project logistics and budgets, coordinate travel and production schedules, and ensure projects are completed within approved resources and timeline.
Qualifications (Required)
  • Experience – Minimum 4 years of professional experience as a photographer, videographer, or visual journalist in a professional newsroom, agency, or equivalent production environment.
  • Portfolio – A professional portfolio demonstrating advanced skill in portrait, documentary, and event photography/videography, with examples of visual storytelling that inspire and uplift.
  • Technical Expertise
    • Advanced proficiency in professional digital camera systems and lighting setups.
    • Expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud applications including Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro (or comparable industry tools).
    • Solid understanding of color correction, sound syncing, and file preparation for multiple media platforms.
  • Project & People Skills – Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously, coordinate teams, and meet tight deadlines while maintaining high quality and creative integrity.
  • Physical & Travel Requirements
    • Willingness and ability to travel frequently (including short notice) throughout the Europe Central Area.
    • Physical capability to transport and operate production equipment (up to 50 lbs.) and to stand for extended periods during shoots.
  • Spiritual & Organizational Alignment
    • Deep understanding of and commitment to the mission and teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
    • Must exemplify professionalism, humility, and discretion in all interactions and assignments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Photography, Film Production, Visual Journalism, Communications, or related field.
  • Multilingual ability (especially within Europe Central languages).
  • Experience working in international or multi-cultural production settings.
  • Familiarity with Church communication channels, newsroom workflows, or global broadcast content.
Working Conditions
  • Frequent travel across multiple countries in the Europe Central Area.
  • Occasional weekend or evening assignments to accommodate events and production schedules.
  • Work involves both indoor and outdoor environments, often under varied lighting or weather conditions.
  • Must consistently maintain the highest standards of conduct, confidentiality, and safety.
What We Offer
  • A unique opportunity to use creative talents to share the gospel through impactful visual storytelling.
  • Collaboration with inspired, mission-driven teams on meaningful global projects.
  • Opportunities to travel across diverse regions and cultures within the Europe Central Area.
