Zusammenfassung

The University Medical Center Göttingen's Institute of Cardiovascular Physiology invites applications for a PhD student researcher position to study compartment-specific mitochondrial redox signalling and protein translation.

The project uses genetically encoded ROS systems and engages live-cell imaging, redox proteomics, and multi-omics, in HEK293 cells, iPSC-derived cardiomyocytes and neuronal models, with collaboration across partners and opportunities for publications.

Qualifikationen

  • Master of Sciences or equivalent in a Life Sciences subject.
  • Experience in live-cell fluorescence imaging and quantitative image analysis.
  • Experience with genetically encoded biosensors, redox biology, mitochondrial biology or protein translation.
  • Practical mammalian cell culture experience; iPSC-derived cardiomyocytes or neurons is an advantage.
  • Experience with molecular cloning, viral transduction, CRISPR-based approaches or engineered cell models.
  • Interest in integrating imaging data with proteomics, transcriptomics or functional assays.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently in an interdisciplinary research environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in English.

Aufgaben

  • Establish, maintain and validate compartment-targeted ROS-generating cell models.
  • Perform quantitative live-cell imaging using genetically encoded redox biosensors.
  • Analyse compartment-specific ROS propagation and redox signalling.
  • Contribute to redox proteomics, translation assays and mitochondrial functional studies.
  • Work with iPSC-derived cardiomyocytes and neuronal models.
  • Integrate imaging, proteomic, transcriptomic and functional datasets.

Jobbeschreibung

The Institut für Herz- und Kreislaufphysiologie of the University Medical Center Göttingen is looking for a new position for the earliest start date.

part time, 25,025 hours per week, 3 Years.

The Institute of Cardiovascular Physiology at the University Medical Center Göttingen invites applications for a PhD student researcher position to work within a project on compartment-specific mitochondrial redox signalling and protein translation.

The project investigates how localized production of H₂O₂ and O₂.

  • within mitochondrial subcompartments and the cytosol regulates thiol-dependent redox networks, mitochondrial and cytoplasmic protein translation, and cellular adaptation. The work will use genetically encoded ROS-generating systems, including DAO- and SuperNova-based tools, in HEK293 cells, human iPSC-derived cardiomyocytes and neurons. The project combines live-cell redox imaging, engineered cell models, redox proteomics, translation assays, mitochondrial functional analyses and multi-omics integration.
