Overall, research in the Group of Prof. Dr. Meyer zu Hörste at the Department of Neurology combines basic models and patient‑derived specimen with cutting‑edge technologies. One of our recent projects has been to better understand human polyneuropathies by using single nuclei and spatial transcriptomics (PubMed ID 40849297). This embeds with the focus of the group of applying single‑cell / spatial transcriptomics to better understand human neurological diseases on a wider scale (see e.g. PubMed IDs 38750052, 33382973).

RESPONSIBILITIES

You will study mechanisms of peripheral nerve and brain border immunology by applying animal models and spatial transcriptomics at the Department of Neurology as part of the established research group of Prof. Dr. Meyer zu Hörste and integrated with the Biology in Context Core Unit.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Experience in rodent experimentation and their legal requirements in Germany
  • Immunohistochemistry and / or RNA in‑situ hybridization and light microscopy
  • Motivation, interest in topics of neurobiology and team‑oriented approach to work
  • Sense of responsibility, organisational skills, reliability and flexibility
  • Experience in single cell / nuclei or spatial transcriptomics is preferable, but not required
  • Experience in immunological techniques (e.g., flow cytometry) is a plus
  • Good written and oral communication skills in English are mandatory (international group)
