The Optical Technology Laboratory in Munich researches and develops signal processing, components and systems for fixed access, data center networks, metro and long-haul optical networks. The department engages in local research and collaborates with academic and industrial partners from the European ecosystem.

We’re looking for a motivated and creative individual who is passionate about technology and excited to push the boundaries of research in optical communication. You should have a strong technical background in mathematical optimization and machine learning, but more importantly, you should have a curiosity for new technologies and a desire to make a difference.

Your mission

• Conduct innovative research in communication networks with emerging technologies.
• Develop and test algorithms and control strategies to improve the performance and operation of dynamic and scalable networks.
• Support standardization efforts in communication networks.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on exciting, large-scale projects.
• Publish and present latest research achievements in academic conferences and journals.
• Contribute to intellectual property generation.

Your areas of expertise

• Master’s degree in electrical engineering, informatics, telecommunications, or a related field
• In-depth experience with mathematical optimization and machine learning
