The Clinical Department of Dental Prosthetics and Biomedical Materials Science at MHH invites applications for a PhD position in biophysics/medical microbiology. You will establish adhesion protocols for oral bacteria under shear, perform microbiological flow cell experiments and CLSM, and develop a biophysical/statistical analysis workflow.
The role requires a Master in biology/biophysics/microbiology or related field, excellent English skills, and a team-oriented approach.
The Clinical Department of Dental Prosthetics and Biomedical Materials Science (Director Prof. Meike Stiesch) is part of the Center for Dental, Oral and Maxillofacial Medicine at MHH. The clinic’s research areas are implant-associated infections, bacterial biofilms, dental stem cells and tissue engineering. The research on implant-associated infections is located at the Lower Saxony Center for Biomedical Technology, Implant Research and Development (NIFE). Here, we are offering a PhD position in the DFG-funded project “Deciphering microbe-material-interactions: Shear force-dependent and time-resolved mechanisms of oral bacterial adhesion to implant surfaces”.
