Airwallex is seeking a People Operations & Workplace Experience Specialist to support the Berlin office (hybrid, four days on-site) and collaborate with our Paris and Barcelona teams.
You will own onboarding, offboarding, payroll inputs, and benefits, maintain HRIS data, and help build a vibrant in-office culture as we scale across the EMEA region.
This role emphasizes practical process improvements, strong communication, and hands-on service to employees and vendors in a fast-growing environment.

This role sits at the intersection of People Operations and Workplace Experience for our Paris/Berlin/Barcelona office. You will act as a critical "boots on the ground" partner, ensuring core HR operations for the EMEA team run smoothly while helping build a strong, engaging in-office culture during a period of rapid growth for EMEA. You’ll own high-volume, detail-oriented work (onboarding, offboarding, payroll inputs, benefits) while also identifying opportunities to improve and automate processes as we scale. As part of the EMEA team, you will help with our build-out as well as opportunities to contribute to broader EMEA people operations work supporting the Region.
This is hybrid based in Berlin ( 4 days a week)
Own onboarding and offboarding end-to-end, ensuring a seamless employee experience Serve as the primary POC for HR inquiries; manage ticketing system with timely, high-quality responses Maintain accurate HRIS and payroll data (incl. EOR), run audits, and manage data changes Support payroll processes, including commissions and bonuses by auditing inputs and resolving discrepancies Administer benefits programs and support ongoing rollout; ensure compliance with the relevant regulations for the markets that you are supporting. You will oversee day-to-day office operations (supplies, vendors, access, equipment, general upkeep) Act as a front-of-house presence: greet visitors, manage deliveries, coordinate with building management Support and execute employee engagement initiatives (events, monthly celebrations, quarterly offsites) Help build and scale a strong in-office culture as the office grows Identify inefficiencies in manual workfl
