Position Summary

Operator - Lead is responsible for supporting and coordinating day-to-day management of operators and relief operators, ensuring safe work practices, ensuring quality products, and controlling inventory within the assigned area. This includes driving the output and activities of the assigned cells and work areas as well as other priorities set by the Injection Molding Supervisor.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

This position reports to the Injection Molding Assistant Supervisor. The primary responsibility is to safely and efficiently perform top-quality operational duties daily, including:

• Ensure Molder Operator assignments are filled at the start of the shift
• Assign Molder Operator tasks based on daily workload
• Carton Palletizing
• Cleaning Assignments
• Breaking co-workers
• Training
• Replenishing materials needed (boxes)
• Pulls work orders and tracks completions
• Ensure work instructions, quality documentation, tools, and materials are provided and used accurately
• Ensure job labels are available at start of shift and printing labels if needed
• Responsible for all Microsoft AX transfers ensuring inventory accuracy
• Maintain a safe, clean work area and follow 5S principles
• 5S Leader for Cell; implement and enforce (escalation if non-compliance); perform routine audits
• Maintain quality in cells by enforcing organization standards and line clearance
• Ensure 15 Minute Checks and 1-hour checks are complete and accurate
• Communicate and escalate all non-conformities
• Deliver hold parts to the Quality Hold Area
• Ensure cartons of product are placed on the correct pallet
• Support Continuous Improvement Projects
• Complete shift reports and other required documentation
• Communicate status of each job order with on-going and off-going shifts
• Coordinate daily communication between shifts to ensure 5S checklist completion, job status, quality issues, and concerns

Leadership Duties

• Promote a culture of excellence through visible leadership
• Drive achievement of Daily Performance Goals
• Complete production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel
• Ensure compliance with policies and procedures
• Support training initiatives and track progress
• Provide feedback on gaps or deficiencies
• Re-assign Molder Operator duties when machines are down or changing over
• Escalate non-conformities, failures, non-compliance, behavioral problems or poor workmanship to Assistant Supervisor
• Coach, provide feedback, and train to support supervision

Education And/or Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
• Knowledge of Molder Operator functions and policies
• Professional and confidential demeanor
• Effective communication skills under pressure
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
• Good documentation practices as outlined by LASCO quality department
• Results-driven with ability to adapt to change
• Intermediate PC skills (ERP system AX preferred), Word, Excel, SharePoint, Outlook

Physical Demands

The physical demands are representative of those required to perform essential functions. Reasonable accommodation may be made. Must be able to lift 25 pounds 3 feet high; operate a pallet jack; remove full pallets from the barcode area; good hand-eye coordination for labeling parts; stand/walk for eight hours. Equipment used includes pallet jacks, knives, tape guns, barcode applicator machines, label printers, barcode scanners and verifiers.

Work Environment
