Huawei's Heisenberg Research Center in Munich hosts the Network 6.0 Department and focuses on advanced technology research, architectural development, design, and strategic engineering. The Network Researcher will explore industrial networking, design and prove scheduling algorithms, and develop demonstrators across smart manufacturing, automation, and smart grid projects.

You will contribute to publications and standards while engaging with partners.

Qualifikationen

• PhD in IT, electrical engineering or CS.
• Solid background in industrial networking protocols and technologies.
• Familiarity with bus protocols (CAN, RS485, MII/RMII) and Ethernet physical layers (10/100/1000BASE-T).
• Deep understanding of transmission line theory and its impact on cabling and communication quality.
• Fluent in English.
• Plus: knowledge of AI networking and standardization/industrial development experience.

Huawei's Heisenberg Research Center in Munich is responsible for advanced technology research, architectural development, design and strategic engineering of our products.

The Network 6.0 Department in Heisenberg Research Center is extensively commenced in diverse research topics under the umbrella of “Industrial and enterprise network communications”, including but not limited to deterministic networking, advanced scheduling, communication and data center network technologies. With the acceleration of the adoption of AI, we are exploring the NET4AI and AI4NET, aiming to research and expedite the adoption of AI and related disruptive technologies into the industrial and enterprise environments, in order to improve the productivity and efficiency.

Your mission

• Involve in researching and developing networking and communication technologies
• Design scheduling algorithms and protocols with solid mathematical proofs
• Design and develop proof of concepts and demonstrators in various verticals including smart manufacturing, process automation, smart building, smart grid, etc.
• Contribute to the standards draft, technical publication and white papers
• Engaging with industrial partners for potential collaboration and joint innovation
• Attend top-tier conferences, industrial fairs and events to explore potential business cases and networking requirements

Your areas of expertise

• Possess a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in Information Technology, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
• Solid background in industrial networking protocols and technologies (e.g. TCP/IP, TSN, Single Pair Ethernet, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, EtherCAT, etc.)
• Familiarity with bus protocols (such as CAN, RS485, MII/RMII, etc.) and the working mechanisms of Ethernet physical layers (10/100/1000BASE-T, etc.)
• Deep understanding of transmission line theory (such as characteristic impedance, propagation delay, reflection, crosstalk, etc.) and its impact on actual cabling and communication quality
• Fast learner and team player
• Familiarity with various industrial verticals including smart manufacturing, transportation, smart grid, smart city, etc.
• Fluent in English
• Familiar with AI networking is a plus
• Relevant standardization and industrial development experience is a plus
