Make a difference where it matters most

This is an opportunity to join a specialist pharmaceutical organisation whose products are used in the treatment of critically ill patients, often when no other options remain. As a Medical Science Liaison, you will play a key role in supporting clinicians who are fighting some of the most complex infectious diseases in modern medicine.

Our client is a German business unit within a respected international pharmaceutical group, combining the agility of a smaller organisation with the stability and scientific depth of a global company.

The role

As Medical Science Liaison for North Rhine-Westphalia, you will act as the scientific bridge between the company and the medical community, working closely with:

  • Infectious disease specialists
  • Microbiologists
  • Intensivists and hospital pharmacists
  • Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) across the region

You will collaborate with the sales team to ensure high-quality scientific exchange, helping healthcare professionals understand the clinical value, appropriate use and real-world impact of life‑saving antibiotic therapies.

Key responsibilities
  • Build and maintain long‑term relationships with KOLs and clinical experts in infectious diseases
  • Deliver high‑level scientific education and non‑promotional medical support
  • Act as a trusted scientific partner to the commercial and sales teams
  • Support medical education initiatives, advisory boards and scientific meetings
  • Gather and communicate medical insights from the field back into the organisation
  • Travel across NRW to visit hospitals and clinical centres (field‑based role)
Who we’re looking for

You don’t need to have held an MSL title previously — what matters most is scientific credibility, curiosity and a patient‑first mindset.

Ideally, you will have:

  • A scientific or clinical background (e.g. life sciences, pharmacy, medicine, PhD or similar)
  • A strong interest in infectious diseases, antibiotics, critical care or hospital‑based therapies
  • Experience interacting with healthcare professionals in a scientific or educational capacity
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to work cross‑functionally
  • Excellent communication skills in German (English beneficial)
  • Willingness to travel across North Rhine‑Westphalia
Why join?
  • Work on therapies that genuinely save lives and address antimicrobial resistance
  • Join a close‑knit German team with the backing of a global organisation
  • High level of autonomy and trust
  • Meaningful scientific conversations — not volume‑driven promotion
  • Flexible home‑based working anywhere in NRW
