Adjunct Faculty Mathematics UMGC Europe The Undergraduate School Location: Stuttgart, Germany This position is specifically to teachon-site in Stuttgart. Local applicants only; UMGC does not sponsor logistical support for this role. Applicants must have and be able to maintain their own legal status in the country in which they apply to teach. Some teaching locations may not be accessible by public transportation.Candidates must be able to reliably travel to assigned work locations and perform on‑site responsibilities as required.

Course Structure & Time Commitment

Course Delivery: UMGC in Europe and UMGC in Asia offer courses in a variety of instructional formats, including face‑to‑face instruction, online (asynchronous and/or synchronous), hybrid, and live‑streaming, depending on the location and academic program.

Term Length: Most courses are delivered in accelerated 8‑week sessions.

Class Size: Enrollment varies by course and location.

Teaching Commitment: The adjunct faculty role requires a substantial commitment throughout the term focusing not only on academic success but also the social, personal, and professional growth of students.

Minimum Qualifications
  • A master’s degree in Mathematics or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Relevant academic and/or professional experience in the field.
  • Applicants must have and be able to maintain their own legal status in the country in which they apply to teach.
  • A deeply student‑centered approach rooted in empathy, flexibility, professional integrity, and cultural responsiveness.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching adult learners online (asynchronous and/or synchronous), hybrid, and/or face‑to‑face learning environments.
  • Prior postsecondary teaching experience.
  • Active engagement in your discipline’s professional community.

Benefits Package Highlights
  • Health Coverage: Access to health care, medical with vision, dental, and prescription plans for both individuals and families, effective from the 1st of the month following your hire date. NOTE: Adjuncts are only eligible for State of Maryland benefits. Adjuncts are not eligible for the State of Maryland subsidized rates. Adjuncts would be responsible for the total cost if enrolled.

Hiring Range by Degree
  • Non‑PhD: Step 1 $903 - Step 16 $1,173 per credit hour
  • PhD: Step 1 $931 - Step 16 $1,215 per credit hour
