The R&D Data Science Team at our Hannover-Stöckenlocation is responsible for data-based support of research and development in the field of tires. To achieve this, we utilize a mix of self-service business intelligence solutions and modern machine learning techniques to provide our tire developers with advanced tools for the tires of the future.
Within this exciting work environment at our location in Hanover-Stöcken, we are offering a master thesis position (incl. internship)starting September 2026. For the best learning experience possible, the internship should require a duration of about 3 months.
Formulate tire concept selection as a constrained multi-objective optimization problem based on multiple predictive models
Incorporate prediction uncertainty using risk-aware objectives, chance constraints, Monte Carlo evaluation, sensitivity analysis, or related methods
Ongoing studies in mathematics, computer science, data science, statistics, engineering or a comparable quantitative field, ideally with a specialization in optimization, machine learning, statistics, operations research or numerical methods
Knowledge of machine learning, predictive modeling, statistics, or uncertainty quantification
Basic understanding of multi-objective optimization, Pareto concepts or numerical optimization methods
Experience with scientific documentation and structured evaluation of algorithms is beneficial
Python, ideally including common data science and optimization libraries
Very good command of English, written and spoken
Structured operation, analytical thinking and an interest in technical optimization problems
Proactive communication
