We are currently seeking an Applications Sales Manager to join our scale-up customer in Aachen, Germany, who are providing sustainable solutions to the FMCG sector.

After implementing their solutions with multiple large manufacturers, they are now looking to reinforce their Sales strategy by establishing relationships and building awareness with R&D, materials and innovation teams at consumer brands.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Building awareness of the technology with brand owners and their R&D, materials and innovation teams
• Turning that interest into proof-of-concept projects, then guiding brands through testing, validation and internal approval
• Generating qualified opportunities and feeding them into the sales process – this is how the role is measured
• Identifying and qualifying new applications on technical feasibility, commercial value and sales potential
• Working the industry circuit – trade fairs, plastics and polymer processing conferences, customer workshops and innovation forums
• Tracking EU sustainability and materials regulation, and translating what it means for customers and for the roadmap
• Bringing customer insight back into product development and the technology roadmap
• Working with internal teams to turn what customers ask for into something commercially viable

Skills & Experience

• Around five years or more in product development, materials innovation or applications engineering
• Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Science or similar
• A strong communicator who can carry a technical argument with a non-technical audience and keep a long project moving
• Existing relationships with consumer brands or plastics converters would be a real advantage
• Exposure to business development, or to EU sustainability regulation, is a nice to have rather than a must
• Comfortable generating your own leads – not the sort to come home from a trade show empty handed
