Jobbeschreibung

Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.

We want you as a talented MAIT Additive Manufacturing Technician to help us in our mission by contributing significantly to Additive Manufacturing (AM) technology, development and in-house production for our Vehicles Nyx Earth and Nyx Moon.

The ideal candidate will play a key role as an Additive Manufacturing Technician, overseeing the daily execution of our 3D printing production. This versatile position focuses on the practical lifecycle of AM components, from machine setup and operation to intricate post-processing and finishing. The ideal candidate will ensure strict adherence to quality protocols and maintain meticulous documentation to guarantee that all parts comply with high industry standards and NASA regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up and operate metal AM (laser powder bed fusion) systems, including powder loading, calibration and part removal.
  • Monitor build and machine status, identify anomalies and elevate issues as required.
  • Maintain traceability and build documentation throughout production runs.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area; ensure equipment and tools are well maintained and calibrated.
  • Assist with machine maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Perform post-processing tasks such as support removal, bead blasting, surface finishing and cleaning.
  • Coordinate with service providers for heat treatment, HIP or precision machining as required.
  • Ensure cleanliness and quality of parts prior to inspection.
  • Careful preparation of manufacturing protocols, parts release certificates and traceability records in accordance with aerospace or industrial standards.
  • Visual inspection of cleaned parts for surface defects or damage prior to handover to quality assurance.
Qualifications:
  • 2 years of relevant hands-on experience in additive manufacturing or aerospace production.
  • Comfortable working with metal powders, inert gas systems, and precision tools.
  • Familiarity with additive manufacturing standards, including NASA or aerospace industry standards, is highly desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem solving skills and ability to follow technical procedures.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, customer-focused manufacturing environment.
  • English language skills (spoken and written) are required for day-to-day communication, technical documentation and customer interaction.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with CAD and/or build preparation software (e.g., 3Dxpert, Magics, Netfabb).
  • Experience operating metal additive manufacturing machines such as laser powder bed fusion or directed energy deposition printers.
  • Hands‑on experience with propulsion or aerospace components (combustion chambers, injectors, nozzles).
  • Familiarity with aerospace and spaceflight quality standards (e.g., AS9100, NASA-STD, ECSS).
  • Knowledge and/or experience working with industrial robots.
