The Legal Counsel is responsible for providing legal advice and support to Experian in all legal capacities. You will work closely with various departments and external advisors to ensure that Experian operates in compliance with national and international laws. This position requires in-depth knowledge of international business law, contract law, data protection law, and a high degree of personal responsibility. This is a Fixed Term Contract (12 months).
Responsibilities
- Legal advice: Supporting and advising the management and specialist departments on all legal issues, particularly in the areas of contract law, commercial law, and data protection law.
- Contract management: Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating national and international contracts, including supply, distribution, service, and license agreements.
- Risk assessment: Identifying and assessing legal risks and developing and implementing strategies to minimize risks.
- Dispute resolution: Assisting in the handling and resolution of legal disputes, including coordinating outside counsel and representing the company in legal proceedings.
- Data protection: Providing advice and support in data protection, particularly with regard to compliance with GDPR and other data protection regulations.
- Legal training: Conducting internal training on legal topics to promote awareness of legal risks and best practices within the company.
- International cooperation: Coordinating and cooperating with international subsidiaries and sister companies to ensure a uniform legal strategy.
Qualifications
- Completed university degree in law (state examination) and ideally a license as a fully qualified lawyer; additional qualifications in international business law are an advantage.
- Several years of professional experience in a comparable position, ideally in an international company or a renowned law firm.
- Experience working with multinational teams and advising senior executives.
- Initial years of general legal experience plus relevant expertise in supporting GTM functions.
- Sound knowledge of German and international commercial law, including contract law, data protection law, and compliance.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, excellent communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to explain complex legal issues in an understandable way and develop pragmatic solutions.
- Fluency in written and spoken German and English is mandatory; other language skills are an advantage.
